Huddersfield Giants coach Jon Sharp hailed try-scoring sensation Rod Jensen after the Australian's spectacular length-of-the-field score put the Giants on their way to a 34-22 victory over engage Super League play-off rivals Warrington Wolves.
The scores were locked at 12-12 when pacy winger Jensen, snapped up from North Queensland Cowboys in June, intercepted a Mark Gleeson pass to race away for a try that turned the match the Giants' way.
"We've never had that in four years," said Sharp. "He's scored three 90-metre tries for us in the last four matches.
"He's been a super buy for us. We chased him for two years and now we've got him we're not disappointed."
Kevin Brown and Jamahl Lolesi also scored second-half tries, to add to first-half efforts from Ryan Hudson and Brad Drew, and captain Chris Thorman kicked seven goals from eight attempts as Huddersfield eased to their fifth win in six matches and took their points total to a club record 25.
Their victory enabled them to leapfrog Warrington into fifth place and put them within sight of a first-ever appearance in the end-of-season play-offs.
"We're in good nick and we have been for a long time," added Sharp. "But we've got to crank up from this performance against Wakefield next week.
"I thought defensively we were fantastic but offensively we didn't have much to play with. It was a dogged performance."
Warrington scored three tries to two in the first half but faded in the second half to end their home campaign on a disappointing note despite a hat-trick of tries from makeshift centre Ben Westwood.
They also lost prop forward Paul Wood with a dislocated shoulder and had international duo Adrian Morley and Paul Rauhihi placed on report for alleged foul tackles.
"We got what we deserved," said coach Paul Cullen. "We scored five very good tries but our composure and discipline simply wasn't good enough.
"We surrendered the battle of field possession and played the game at the wrong end of the field. We squandered two points tonight.
"But it all pales into insignificance when we consider the injuries to Paul Wood. He has a very badly bust shoulder. The shoulder came out and we fear he broke it as well."
