Knights name Gidley at halfback - includes NYC and NSW teams
Tue April 15, 2008
Newcastle will meet the star studded and inform Sydney Roosters at Gosford's Bluetonge Stadium on Sunday afternoon in what promises to be a true test of where the Knights are at for the 2008 season.

The Knights have been competitive in all their matches this season, but are currently on a three match losing streak going down in very tight fashion to the Eels and Warriors before last week losing by 12 points against the Broncos despite a strong second half performance.

Danny Buderus has been in fine form for the Knights and whilst his only hope of playing for Australia next month is if Cameron Smith gets injured or suspended he is favourite to retain the NSW hooker position and will also be the likely captain.

Newcastle Coach Brian Smith has named Kurt Gidley at halfback and his performance in the No.7 jersey will be monitored closely with future representative honours on the line should he go well as the Blues are desperate for a halfback to face off against Johnathan Thurston in the Origin series.

The Roosters have been the form team of the NRL and this weekend decided to transfer their home game to the Central Coast. A near capacity crowd is expected as the Knights enjoy a good following on the Central Coast and the Roosters are shaping up as the team to beat this season.
