Storm held scoreless in loss to Titans
Mon June 9, 2008
Source: www.melbournestorm.com.au

In wet and difficult conditions at Skilled Park, the Melbourne Storm suffered their fourth defeat of the season, going down to the Gold Coast Titans 18-0 in front of just over 19,000 fans.

The win extends the Gold Coast's unbeaten run at their new home ground to seven in 2008 and sending them to equal top of the ladder.

Conceding too many penalties and not completing enough sets cost the Storm dearly with the Titans enjoying twice as much possession as their opponent.

The game started poorly for Melbourne with Titans centre Brett Delaney scoring after only five minutes.

A penalty in the 13th minute against the Storm right in front of their own posts 10 metres out was happily accepted by Gold Coast five-eighth Matt Rogers, who easily knocked the football over the black dot for the two points.

Another try down the Storm's left-hand side to Gold Coast's Brad Meyers in the 18th minute gave the home side a 12-0 lead which they held onto until the half-time break.

The second-half went much the same as the first, with the Storm unable to cross the try-line while conceding a 64th minute try to Ben Jeffrey. It was definitely the highlight of the game with Jeffrey chipping over the top, before miraculously regathering the ball and dragging a couple of defenders over the line with him.

The Storm now has a bye before taking on the Cowboys in Melbourne on Saturday, June 21st.

STORM 0 def. by TITANS 18 (Tries: Delaney, Meyers, Jeffrey; Goals: Rogers 3) at Skilled Park.
