Thurston back for Cowboys

North Queensland captain Johnathan Thurston is back for Saturday night's clash against the Gold Coast at Dairy Farmers Stadium with victory assuring the Bulldogs of the wooden spoon.

The Cowboys ended a 13-match losing streak on Saturday night defeating an embarrassing Bulldogs outfit 36-12 at Suncorp Stadium.

Thurston's return will be a huge boost for the Cowboys with their five victories from 20 games not a true reflection of how competitive they've been this year.
