Source: www.weststigers.com.auThe first NRL double-header in four years could emerge as the most pivotal day in the race for the 2008 Telstra Premiership Finals.
The unpredictability of results in the past few weeks has set the scene for a thrilling race to the finals with the aspirations of three teams to go on the line at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night when Wests Tigers and Manly Sea Eagles clash before the Bulldogs tackle the Parramatta Eels.
With just three rounds remaining before the Telstra Premiership Finals, Manly must win to keep their Minor Premiership hopes alive while Wests Tigers and Parramatta must also win to stay in the finals race.
"This is a chance for fans to enjoy two games that will have a significant bearing on the make-up of the top eight," NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said.
"The clubs involved are traditional rivals and that will only add to the atmosphere."
Wests Tigers and the Sea Eagles will rekindle the spirit of the 'Fibros versus the Silvertails' while the second annual Bandaged Bear Cup match between the Bulldogs and Eels will feature a half-time parade of more than 300 hospital staff in a tribute to the tireless work and dedication of the staff and volunteers at The Children's Hospital, Westmead.
The excitement will extend off the field as well with the double-header featuring a host of family entertainment, including face painting, clowns and jumping castles.
There have been eight double-headers in NRL history - five of them were season-openers (1999-01, 2003-04) and three were Easter double-headers (2002-04).

Source: www.bulldogs.com.auThe Bulldogs and the Wests Tigers have today announced that Members of each club will receive a bonus double pass to the NRL's Double Header games at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 23 August.
Unveiling a joint venture approach to the Round 24 Double Header, both clubs are committed to making the promotion a huge success.
The NRL announced earlier today their Round 24 Telstra Premiership match schedule will feature the Wests Tigers home game against the Manly Sea Eagles (5.30pm kick off) directly followed by the Bulldogs game against the Eels (7.30pm kick off) both at ANZ Stadium.
The Double Header was devised in response to scheduling issues for the NRL in Round 24 with both teams scheduled to host home games at ANZ Stadium.
Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg said: "The Bulldogs are excited to be a part of this event. We need to work proactively with other Clubs to grow the game, and this event provides a wonderful opportunity for four Sydney Clubs to get together and showcase our great game.
"I encourage all Bulldogs members and supporters to get behind this innovative concept and enjoy a special night out at the footy." Greenberg said.
"The clubs have embraced the Double Header and are working closely with the NRL and ANZ Stadium to ensure all stakeholders' interests are fully accommodated."
The Bandaged Bear Cup, a charity initiative inaugurated by the Bulldogs in honour of the hard-working staff of The Children's Hospital at Westmead, will again be contested by the Bulldogs and Eels as a part of the Double Header promotion.
As part of the collaboration, Wests Tigers will throw their support behind the Bandaged Bear Cup.
