It's not often you score four tries in a team that wins by 34 points and still get overshadowed by another individual from the losing team.
But that's what happened in a truly bizarre afternoon at Dolphin Oval.
Livewire Redcliffe fullback Ryan Cullen crossed the white line on four occasions in Redcliffe's 62-28 drubbing of the Burleigh Bears.
Remarkably, Burleigh's Adam Fielder outscored Cullen by crossing for all five of the visiting team's tries.
With Fielder in fine touch, the Bears led the round eight contest 10-6.
But what followed left Burleigh supporters gobsmacked.
Redcliffe put a scintillating period of play together, running in tries at will on their way to a 42-10 half-time lead.
While the Dolphins were sharp with the ball, Burleigh's one on one defence was dreadful at times.
Cullen, who scored three tries in the first half, was rapt to see the Dolphins attack come together after a sluggish start to the season. "The first two weeks, I think we struggled getting combinations together because we've got a fairly new side," he said.
"But we're starting to gel and we're starting to enjoy our footy a lot more. Everyone is on board and we're going forward.
"We got our attack right, but obviously we're still not quite right there in defence."
Although Redcliffe "won" the second half 20-18, Cullen wasn't thrilled with the effort.
"It would have been good to keep them to a lesser score. It would have been good to keep them to 10. At half-time we talked about it."
Cullen's support play, and the sharp skills of playmakers Shane Perry, Michael Roberts and Marty Turner, provided great entertainment value for the large contingent of Redcliffe supporters.
Cullen had the crowd on its feet when he showed electrifying speed to score from a clever grubber kick midway through the second half.
"I didn't have to do too much for them ? just support the boys," a modest Cullen said of his four-try haul.
Although Redcliffe led by a staggering 32 points at the break, Burleigh put itself in with a chance after scoring two quick converted tries through that man Fielder right after the break.
Burleigh was making easy yards with the ball and with the score at 42-22, one more try would have made for a thrilling finish.
But the momentum swung back in Redcliffe's favour in the 55th minute when Bears forward Martin Griese was penalised while in possession for raising his forearm.
Redcliffe's Perry sliced through from the next set of six to end any chance of a miraculous come from behind Burleigh win.
Griese was also placed on report following a first half brawl which left him with a head wound.
Dolphins prop James Crombie received a stern warning form the referee following the incident, which flared after Fielder had scored his second try of the game.
