In this week's Bulls Eye, Bradford coach Steve McNamara looks ahead to Sunday's Super League Round 9 game at the Grattan Stadium when the newly promoted Castleford are the visitors.
STEVE McNAMARA WHAT SORT OF THREAT WILL CASTLEFORD POSE ON SUNDAY? I think they are a real threat and it would be foolish to look at the league position and judge them on that. In my opinion their game against Leeds was probably the highest quality game we have seen on SKY TV this year, in terms of a side that played very well on the night and were quick and fluent. They were very unfortunate to lose the game against Warrington and they have been very close on a number of occasions. They have certainly got some speed in McGoldrick and Dorn, who are very quick and Sherman who is pushing them round the park. They are a very tenacious and workmanlike side who push very hard for ach other and if Awen Guttenbeil is fit he is a player that would grace most Super League sides.
THEY LOOK A WELL COACHED SIDE? They are very well Coached. I have a lot of respect for Terry Matterson and what he is doing down there. He has some quality young players coming through and that is underpinning what they are doing at Castleford and it's good to see it happening.
CONCENTRATING ON THE BULLS, HOW HAS TRAINING GONE THIS WEEK? It's gone very well. We have responded very well to the Easter period and we have come back very enthusiastic and ready to go again. I was delighted to get the two points against Harlequins, particularly in light of our other performance over Easter and we showed in patches just what a good side we can be and we will be looking to improve on our performance last Monday and looking for more consistency in our game.
SQUAD Steve McNamara, who is still without Michael Platt, who has not recovered from a Hamstring injury and the suspended Terry Newton, welcomes back Jamie Langley, who has been missing with a Knee injury and Chris Feather who missed the Harlequins game with a Back problem.
The 19 man Squad is: Sam Burgess, Paul Sykes, Shontayne Hape, Paul Deacon (c), James Evans, Dave Halley, Chris Nero, Chris Feather, Iestyn Harris, Wayne Godwin, Ben Jeffries, Simon Finnigan, Andy Lynch, Semi Tadulala, David Solomona, Matt Cook, Matt James, Craig Kopczak, Jamie Langley.
MILESTONES PAUL DEACON has kicked 32 goals from 35 attempts this season for an average of 91.43%.
WAYNE GODWIN, who will make his 150th career appearance on Sunday, needs 12 points for a career total of 300. The Hooker has scored 32 tries and kicked 80 goals in his 149 appearances
CHRIS NERO needs 8 points for a career total of 200 in British Rugby League. He has scored 48 tries for a total of 192 points.
BEN JEFFRIES needs 2 points for a career total of 300 in British Rugby League. He has scored 70 tries, kicked 7 goals and 4 Drop Goals for a total of 298 points.
