Whitehaven achieved a great Carnegie Challenge Cup 46-6 win over the French League leaders Lezignan who spoiled their display with indiscipline, having Franc Rovira and Aurelien Cologni sin-binned and conceding 13 penalties.

Whitehaven scored seven tries, two of them coming from Craig Calvert and others from Karl Edmondson, Gary Broadbent, Ryan McDonald, Ade Adebisi and Derry Eilbeck.

Carl Rudd kicked seven conversions and two penalty goals.

For the French side, Chris Beattie got their only try after 25 minutes, converted by Gregory Mazard.

The game was highlighted by some fine tries, particularly when Calvert got the ball on halfway to beat two men in transit for the opening try after nine minutes.
