Source: www.warriors.co.nzThe Vodafone Junior Warriors surrendered an 18-point lead in Townsville tonight (Saturday) to finish up with their second draw in successive matches in the NYC.
After two strikes midway through the second half by prop Leeson Ah Mau and centre Francis Leger, the Vodafone Junior Warriors had a commanding 24-6 lead over North Queensland with just 13 minutes remaining.
But the young Cowboys conjured up three tries inside the last eight minutes - all converted - to steal a 24-24 draw. It followed the Vodafone Junior Warriors' 26-26 draw with the Bulldogs in Auckland last Sunday.
Earlier the home side struck first in the opening minutes of the match. But the Vodafone Junior Warriors regrouped and Kevin Locke, alternating between the right wing and fullback, had touchdowns in the 18th and 22nd minutes. Howie Matthews converted one and then kicked a penalty after the halftime siren had sounded for a 12-6 advantage.
Ah Mau rumbled through several defenders to score his try in the 59th minute and the Vodafone Junior Warriors executed well eight minutes later when they had big numbers to the right, shifting the ball slickly for debutant Francis Leger to score. Matthews converted both, the second superbly from wide out.
The result leaves the Vodafone Junior Warriors unbeaten in their last four matches.

Source: www.warriors.co.nzVodafone Junior Warriors coach Tony Iro will take a changed line-up into tomorrow night's sixth-round NYC clash against North Queensland in Townsville.
Impressive centre Rusty Bristow, who missed the 26-26 draw with the Bulldogs last Sunday with injury, is back.
Joining him in the centres for his first run in the under-20 competition is 19-year-old Francis Leger, who scored four tries for Richmond against East Coast Bays in the Auckland Rugby League's Lion Red Fox Memorial preliminary series last weekend.
Also coming into the Vodafone Junior Warriors for the first time is Otahuhu's Arron Pawley (20). He has been in good form playing for the Auckland Vulcans in the New South Wales Cup in recent weeks.
With Bristow back, Thomas Ah Van - now with six tries in three games - returns to the wing and Elijah Taylor, used in the centres to replace Bristow last week, will start at loose forward.
Also in the run-on side this week will be tall 18-year-old second rower Sione Lousi, joining the outstanding Ben Matulino, who had a superb game against the Bulldogs. He scored a try, laid on another and made 195 metres from 20 runs.
Once again the side will be led by prop Russell Packer and his front row partner Leeson Ah Mau, both continuing to stack up big numbers. Packer again topped 190 metres in territory gained last week (193 from 21 runs) and Ah Mau made 161 metres from 20 carries. Packer also made a stunning 39 tackles.
Giving them excellent support off the bench has been Mataupu Poching with more than 100 metres gained plus a try assist. All three props had substantial playing experience with the Vodafone Auckland Lions in the New South Wales Premier League last year.
Not being used against the Cowboys after playing last week are back rowers Kurt Tehira and Constantine Mika plus hooker Jason Tou.
The Vodafone Junior Warriors go into the match in Townsville sitting in eighth spot on the points table after a run of two wins and a draw in their last three matches.
