The Vodafone Junior Warriors produced their hottest first half of the year on their way to a 42-22 win over Newcastle in their 12th-round NYC clash at EnergyAustralia Stadium tonight.
With six converted tries - three of them in the last five minutes of the first half - they had an overwhelming 36-0 advantage at the break.
Providing 20 points alone was fullback Kevin Locke with two tries and six conversions.
Inside five minutes of the resumption, that lead grew to 42-0 with a try to captain Daniel O'Regan, again converted by Locke.
But after that the Vodafone Junior Warriors allowed their intensity to slip, enabling the Knights to finish the night with 22 unanswered points.
The win lifted the Vodafone Junior Warriors to 14 points from five wins and two draws. It leaves them in eighth place midway through the weekend's round of games.
