Source: www.broncos.com.auWOW Brisbane Broncos winger Israel Folau has equalled the club record by scoring four tries in the club's 32-18 win over the Gold Coast Titans tonight.
In a scrappy affair in front of a crowd of 43,079, both sides struggled with basic handling errors and poor discipline.
"It's good to have the two points in the bank before the representative season begins," said Broncos coach Ivan Henjak.
"We were flat in patches and felt the pressure, allowing them back in to the match. They competed very well and a bit of class on our behalf got us home in the end."
The second half began with Karmichael Hunt putting his body on the line taking down massive Titans interchange player Will Mathews.
Some bad hands in the play ball gave the Broncos ideal attacking position 10 metres out from the Titans try line.
A perfectly timed Darren Lockyer short ball on the last tackle allowed for big Folau to score his second try of the night.
Corey Parker converted his first kick of the evening to give the Broncos a 14-12 lead, 51 minutes in to the match.
The Broncos showed plenty of enthusiasm as a penalty put them within striking range once again.
Their concentration payed off as a beautiful grubber kick from Hunt gave Folau his third.
"He's a big game player and handy to have," said Henjak.
"He goes where he wants, when he wants and sniffs points out."
Parker added the extras to put the Broncos in front 20-12, 55 minutes in to the match.

Some over enthusiastic Broncos defence led to back to back penalty's giving the Titans a chance at some attack.
But Titans centre Esi Tonga ran a great line going over in the corner to bring the Titans back in to the match.
Prince converted bringing the score to 20-18, with 16 minutes remaining.
Some desperate goal line defence by centre Brett Delaney kept the Titans in it, but some poor defence at the play the ball area led to an easy Peter Wallace try.
Parker converted giving the Broncos a 26-12 lead, with seven minutes remaining in the match.
Te`o inspired his team mates with a massive shoulder charge on Ashley Harrison in the dying stages of play.
"He gave us a real impact, especially in the second half," said Henjak of Te`o's performance.
Lockyer capitalised with a line break before offloading to Folau to score his fourth try of the night in the final minute.
Earlier in the match the Titans were unlucky as fullback Preston Campbell made a 50 metre break up field but failed to score.
"They are a tough team to defend against," said Broncos captain Darren Lockyer.
"You tend to fall into the trap of playing their particular style of football."
A sloppy passage of play by the Titans gave the Broncos the feed 30 metres out.
The Broncos attack looked dangerous and PJ Marsh was busy out of dummy half almost scoring of a Lockyer offload.
Broncos second rowers Sam Thaiday and Te`o combined on some second phase play to put Folau over in the corner.
Parker's conversion was unsuccessful leaving the score at 4-0, 15 minutes in to the match.

Source: www.rleaguebetting.comIt's top of the table time in the NRL, and with the Dragons a typically well backed team, there's better value in taking the Bulldogs.
You can get $2.39 for the Bulldogs at
Pinnacle Sports, or take them with 4.5 start at
Sportsbet at odds of $1.92.
In the
Half Time/Normal Time market it's worth considering a Bulldogs/Dragons double at $8.00, or a Dragons/Bulldogs double at $8.50 - both quotes also from
SportsbetConsider Ben Roberts to be
1st Try Scorer at $21, there are a few Dragons forwards that are slow lateral movers and Roberts speed could get him over the line.
Click Here to Compare Odds on Dragons vs BulldogsBrisbane are deserved favourites for the QLD derby against the Gold Coast, and whilst we wouldn't back the Coast in a tipping comp, their $3.15 odds from
Sportsbet are better value than the $1.40 you'd get for the Broncs.
The best value for Brisbane is probably in a Brisbane/Brisbane HT/FT double - you can get $1.91 from
Centrebet. Consider also the $2.02 odds from
IASBet that the Broncos will open the scoring with a try.
Sportingbet have the top odds on the favourites to be 1st Tryscorer - you can get $10 for Israel Folau, which compares favourably to the $7 available elsewhere.
Centrebet have a few quotes well over the odds, paying $26 for Matt Rogers & Scott Prince, and also $34 for Josh Graham.
