The Rabbitohs have led a charmed life over the past fortnight, claiming three competition points when they could have been staring at a blank sheet.
Nathan Merritt's cheeky field goal allowed Souths to squeak home against Wests Tigers in Round 10 and then they survived a hail of Parramatta field goal attempts at ANZ Stadium before escaping with a draw.
It is a positive sign for the Rabbitohs, who have weathered more than their share of hard luck stories over recent years. A victory over Canberra on Monday night will consolidate their place within the top eight and could push them to the brink of the top four.
They will have to overcome the Raiders without two of their most experienced players, Craig Wing and Michael Crocker, who are on Origin duty but livewire halfback Chris Sandow returns from injury and the team looks better equipped to deal with the absence of star players than they have for some time.
Canberra may struggle to cover for the loss of five-eighth Terry Campese, who has been a most influential part of the team over the past 12 months.
The Raiders would have grown in confidence after their big win over the Warriors last Sunday and giant forward Tom Learoyd-Lahrs will be expected to step up again following his starring role last weekend.
Look to a Souths try as First Scoring Play ($1-85) and a Rabbitohs victory by 1-12 points ($2-90).
Best chances for First Tryscorer rest with Colin Best ($13), Nathan Merritt ($9) and Fetuli Talanoa ($11) for Souths or David Milne ($13), Phil Graham ($13) and Adrian Purtell ($13) for the Raiders.
