Mon February 16, 2009 Source: www.superleague.co.ukHuddersfield Giants gave Nathan Brown a dream start to his engage Super League coaching career with a five-try rout of last year's surprise packet Catalans Dragons in Perpignan. Former Salford, Widnes and Bradford second rower Simon Finnigan marked his Giants debut with a try in either half as the Yorkshiremen gained their revenge for last year's 48-0 thrashing at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium. Thomas Bosc gave the French side the lead with a 10th-minute penalty and he scored their only try in the second half but the Dragons finished a well-beaten side in coach Kevin Walters' first match in charge. In a closely-fought first half, Huddersfield made the most of their chances to open up a 12-2 interval advantage. Tries from Finnigan and winger David Hodgson, both converted by new captain Brett Hodgson, put the Giants in command. The Frenchmen threatened a fightback with winger Dimitri Pelo scoring a converted try in the second half. But a second try from Finnigan and others from another debutant, young hooker Shaun Lunt, and second rower Andy Raleigh plus three more Brett Hodgson goals guaranteed the Giants a perfect start. The Dragons, who finished third in Mick Potter's last season, gave debuts to Australian trio Jason Ryles, Steven Bell and Shane Perry but were no match for new-look Huddersfield.
