Source: www.superleague.co.ukPlaymaker Michael Dobson led Hull Kingston Rovers to a comprehensive engage Super League triumph over Wakefield Wildcats at New Craven Park today.
Dobson laid on two tries and added five conversions and a late drop goal as Rovers claimed a second successive win.
The hosts touched down three times in the first period and twice in the second, with the gloss taken off the scoreline by two late scores from the Wildcats, who lost for the second time this season.
The visitors were dealt an early blow when playmaker Brad Drew left the field following a big hit from Scott Murrell.
Rovers then took the lead when Dobson's pass sent in Shaun Briscoe for a try.
Prop Clint Newton scored a second when he burst onto a pass from Murrell to touch down.
Murrell capitalised on indecision in the Wildcats defence for an easy try as Rovers established an 18-0 lead.
However, Wakefield responded before half-time when a long pass out wide found Kevin Henderson to score in the corner.
Tony Martin added the conversion to reduce the deficit to 12 points at the interval.
Wakefield attempted to cut further into the Rovers lead early in the second half but Oliver Wilkes was held up over the line.
It was the hosts who scored next, extending their lead after 52 minutes when hooker Ben Fisher forced his way over from dummy half.
Dobson added his fourth successful conversion.
Dobson's long pass then provided a score in the corner for Liam Colbon and the playmaker added the extras from the touchline.
Briscoe made a try-saving tackle just after the hour to halt Steve Snitch before Wakefield added their second touchdown of the afternoon when Dale Ferguson found a hole to go through and score.
Sean Gleeson added a further score and Martin kicked his third conversion but it was too late for the Wildcats.
And Dobson added a late one-pointer to make sure of the win.
