Source: www.superleague.co.ukHull FC avenged their shock Carnegie Challenge Cup home defeat by Salford City Reds and ended a run of six defeats in a row in all competitions.
Hull welcomed back Richard Horne and Peter Cusack after injury but Shaun Berrigan was ruled out with a knee problem.
Horne took over from the axed Craig Hall at full-back with Salford opting to again leave out Karl Fitzpatrick despite a heavy defeat at Catalans Dragons and Ian Sibbit suspended.
But Horne could not have made a worse start as his long pass was intercepted by Darrell Goulding, who sprinted 60 metres on his home debut after signing on loan from Wigan Warriors.
Referee Jamie Leahy was forced to adjudicate on John Wilshere's successful conversion attempt after a split decision by the touch judges.
Salford went 10-0 ahead after six minutes with props Ray Cashmere and Craig Stapleton combining for Richie Myler to race over for his ninth try of the season.
Wilshere's handling mistake proved costly with Mark Calderwood surging over in the corner from Chris Thorman's long pass to open Hull's account after 10 minutes.
The early points spree was followed by stalemate in a mistake-littered first half until Hull drew level after 27 minutes, Richard Horne racing onto Lee Radford's pass to brush off Rob Parker for a try converted by Danny Tickle.
Hull continued their revival with Thorman's pass handing Richard Whiting an easy score eight minutes before the break with Tickle tagging on the goal to make it 16-10 at the break.
Reds full-back Wilshere endured a nightmare evening and another error by the Papua New Guinea World Cup star allowed Kirk Yeaman to score, but the try was ruled out for obstruction.
Goulding's second try came courtesy of Myler's kick but Wilshere's conversion attempt from the touchline hit the post.
Wilshere then missed a penalty attempt which would have levelled the scores, with the touch judges again undecided whether it had gone over.
Salford would have gone ahead had Myler been able to take Adam Sidlow's pass but Tickle's penalty two minutes from time completed the scoring.

Source: www.hullfc.comHull FC Coach Richard Agar revealed ahead ofSaturday's engage Super League game against Salford City Reds at the Willows (6pm) that his Hull FC side needed to dig out a win.
After six successive league and cup defeats, Agar said: "It is important we dig out a win and everyone is aware of that.
"We have looked crisp and sharp in training this week and what's important for us now is to translate what we're doing in practice to a game day.
"It is important we give ourselves a chance and to do that we need to cut out the errors and improve our kicking game. We need to put more pressure on the opposition and not ourselves, which is what we have been doing.
"In patches we have done well but then we have started chasing scores when there was no need and that's when we've started making errors.
"We have spoken about sharpening our attitude as well and if we do and cut out the errors we give ourselves a chance.
"Salford will go into the game with some confidence after their recent results and they are a team that have some big units to lay a foundation down the middle for them.
"They carry the ball well and players like Malcolm Alker and Jeremy Smith are influential for them along with Richie Myler who has a habit of being in the right place at the right time."
Richard Horne (foot) and Peter Cusack (knee) are both back after missing last week's game against Wakefield.
With Craig Hall left out the squad Hull have a vacancy at full back and Agar explained: "We'll make that decision later but at St Helens Richard Horne, Chris Thorman and Danny Washbrook alternated in the position. It worked quite well and we may do that again."
CAPTAIN LEE RADFORD LOOKS AHEAD TO SATURDAY'S GAMEHow important is tomorrow's game at Salford?
It is massive. We have got to get a win having lost our last six.
Having started the season like a house on fire we need to get back to that kind of form as quickly as possible - it's as simple as that.
In patches in most of the last six games we have played all right but then we have let ourselves down by making too many errors.
These errors are costing us dearly and we have got to stop making them.
Is it the elementary errors you have to cut down?
Yes, especially early on in the tackle count because these errors are killing us.
We're having to do too much defending. You can't defend a set of six, then defend another, and give a penalty away because before you know it you have done 18 tackles.
If you keep on doing that as we have been asking ourselves to do it will kill you - and it has killed us.
It has a knock on effect. Firstly you can't keep defending because sooner or later a gap will appear in your defence.
It also has an effect on your attack because your energy is down, there is a fatigue factor to all the defending, consequently your support is down, your skill levels fall off and it has a massive effect.
We must get our completion rates much higher than they have been in this run. By doing that we'll take pressure off ourselves and put ourselves in a much stronger position.
It will also enable us to improve the back end of our sets in the opposition end of the field. We haven't been able to do that because of the errors and pressure we have put on ourselves.
Do you think that because Salford knocked us out the cup we owe them one?
No. I think we owe ourselves one. I think it is more important we perform the way we know we can.
It is more important we concentrate on ourselves and getting the things right which have let us down. Do that and the rest will take care of itself?
The bottom line in Super League this season is any side can beat anyone and if you don't turn up you'll get beat.
