Source: www.superleague.co.ukFour tries in the space of 11 second-half minutes paved the way for Hull FC to secure a fourth win from five attempts this season as they overpowered Castleford Tigers at the KC Stadium.
Richard Agar's men had been locked at 12-12 at the interval against their West Yorkshire rivals but blew the Tigers out of the water after the break as Richard Horne (two), Peter Cusack and Craig Hall all went over the whitewash in a devastating spell.
The result means Castleford have now lost all four of their games since their opening-night win at Leeds Rhinos, although there was another score for winger Shaun Ainscough, his fourth in two games since signing on loan from Wigan Warriors.
Hull, still missing influential captain Sean Long with a hamstring injury, were rampant in the opening exchanges and could have scored twice before they finally crossed the line 11 minutes in.
Both Ewan Dowes and Danny Tickle came within inches of scoring before Kirk Yeaman did, notching his fourth of the season in the corner after a stunning five-man cross-field move that started when Mark Calderwood beat Michael Wainwright to Jordan Tansey's high kick.
But Castleford hit back and scored with their first real attack, Ryan Hudson snaking his way over from close range four minutes later.
Hull soon regained the lead when ex-Castleford man Willie Manu was the first to get to Horne's kick through the line but the Tigers again fought back and went into the break on level terms.
Hudson looked to have grabbed himself a second with another sharp dart but, after he was held up, Castleford switched play and Brent Sherwin's kick was taken by James Evans, who palmed the ball into the hands of the waiting Ainscough to finish from a yard.
Hull began the second half as impressively as they did the first and regained their lead seven minutes after the restart thanks to Horne's second try in as many games.
Hulking prop Mark O'Meley returned from the bench at the ideal time for Hull, instantly collecting Shaun Berrigan's pass and bursting clear before handing off to the supporting Horne, who cantered 20 metres to the line.
That try was quickly followed by Cusack's close-range finish off wily veteran Craig Fitzgibbon's stunning pass, before Horne burst clear and made his way to the line again as Hull cut loose.
Hall was the next to score, cashing in after Wainwright shelled Horne's towering kick on his own line, before Rangi Chase give Castleford hope as he got on the end of his own kick to score under the posts.
It appeared that could lead to a genuine chance of a fightback when Evans crashed over, but Fitzgibbon put the game to bed with a last-minute try.
