BURLEIGH BEARS v EASTS TIGERS
Pizzey Park
Saturday, April 24 - 2pm
* Live on ABC TV
Burleigh star Scott Smith plays his 100th Queensland Cup match in this all-important round seven clash on the Gold Coast. Smith, who joined the Bears after stints with North Queensland and Souths Logan, will be a key figure in Burleigh's quest for back-to-back victories. Easts will be looking to break a three-match losing streak. All three of those games have been decided in the final five minutes and the Tigers' faithful will be hoping for a change of fortune at Pizzey Park. Burleigh's Nick Parfitt became the first player to pass 1200 points in the Queensland Cup last weekend moving to 1203; he again moved to the top of the try-scoring list equal with Ryan Cullen on 102. In goal kicking, Parfitt is closing in on Greg Bourke's record of 403 - Parfitt is now equal second with Damian Richters on 397.
MACKAY CUTTERS v WYNNUM MANLY
Mackay Juniors
Saturday, April 24 - 6.30pm
* Bay FM 100.3
Mackay will have the services of Cowboys enforcer Antonio Kaufusi after the former Origin prop was dropped from the NRL side this week. Kaufusi's inclusion in the Cutters team adds to the tremendous firepower on display at the Mackay Junior Fields. The clash is as close as it gets to a must-win game for the Cutters, who are in 11th spot on the competition table but have a game in hand. Wynnum Manly arrives in Mackay full of confidence after a stirring come-from-behind victory over the Ipswich Jets last weekend. Key halfback Matt Seamark returns from suspension for the Seagulls. Tune into Bay FM for the big call from Mike Higgison and Troy Robbins. They will preview the game from 5.30pm, bringing you all the latest team news from both camps.
NORTHERN PRIDE v CENTRAL COMETS
Barlow Park
Saturday, April 24 - 7.00pm
The Northern Pride will be searching for back-to-back victories for the first time this season while the Comets will be out to snap a four-match losing streak. The Comets have not won since their impressive 32-18 victory over the Sunshine Coast in round two. However, the Rockhampton club did show some encouraging signs in last weekend's 20-12 loss to Burleigh. Comets coach Wayne Barnett has shifted Tyron Haynes from centre to the back-row as cover for Alan Rothery, who is attending his brother's wedding. Manase Manuokafoa returns to the Intrust Super Cup after playing for the Cowboys in last weekend's loss to the Newcastle Knights.
NORTHS DEVILS v REDCLIFFE DOLPHINS
Bishop Park
Sunday, April 25 - 4.00pm
The top-of-the table clash between two of the unbeaten heavyweights of the 2010 competition is set to draw a big crowd to the Nundah ground. All eyes will be on Shane Perry's first match for the Devils against his former club. Perry enjoyed an enormous amount of success with the Dolphins. In his 10 matches for Redcliffe against Norths, he was in the winning team on 10 occasions and scored four tries. But the experienced playmaker is looking settled in a Devils jersey and will now be plotting a victory against his old club. Unlike last season, both sides have had few problems posting points. Norths have the best attacking record in the competition, racking up 198 points from six games. The Ryan Cullen-inspired Redcliffe is next best with 191. Norths have again named Broncos pair Josh McGuire and Ashton Sims, while the Dolphins have fringe Broncos Mitch Rivett, Michael Spence and Dave Hala in their starting side.
SUNSHINE COAST v TWEED HEADS
Stockland Park
Sunday, April 25 - 4.15pm
Tweed have now lost seven in a row including their semi-final loss to the Magpies last year. This is equal to their worst ever Queensland Cup run in 2004 when they lost seven in a row after winning their first three games. However, most keen followers of the Intrust Super Cup don't expect Tweed's lean run to continue. The Seagulls were pipped 14-12 by Souths Logan last weekend and their commitment could not be questioned. If Tweed is to breakthrough for its first win of the season it will have to get over the top of a fired-up Sunshine Coast outfit. The Sea Eagles had Redcliffe on the ropes last weekend but failed to put the Dolphins away in a mistake-riddled finish. The Sunshine Coast did however show some encouraging signs in the first half. Their ball movement was a pleasure to watch and Manly duo Daly Cherry-Evans and Terence Seu Seu posed plenty of problems for the defensive line. Seu Seu has been named on the bench for the Tweed clash, with Cameron Joyce to start at hooker.
