Source: www.qrl.com.auNorthern Pride centre Brett Anderson warmed up for Wednesday week's annual Residents clash with a four try haul in last night's comfortable 32-16 win over the Easts Tigers at Barlow Park.
The former Storm flyer was a constant menace as the Pride snapped a three-match losing streak to consolidate their spot in the top three.
Pride coach David Maiden said Anderson received plenty of quality ball.
"He had to work hard to score two or three of them ... he showed the determination and desire that has probably been missing the last month or so," Maiden said.
Anderson shared the players' player award with forward Ben Spina, who has taken his game to a new level in the absence of Joel Riethmuller.
The Pride led 16-0 at half-time and pulled further clear in the second half before the Tigers finished with a bang to add some respectability to the scoreboard.
"To be fair Easts played some pretty good footy in that last 10 minutes but we should have handled it better," Maiden said.
Former Newcastle Knights forward and new Cowboys signing Cory Paterson made his Intrust Super Cup debut for the Pride.
Paterson scored one of the Pride's six tries in a classy performance that would have caught the eye of Cowboys head coach Neil Henry.
NORTHERN PRIDE 32 (Brett Anderson 4, Hezron Murgha, Cory Paterson tries; Chey Bird 4 goals) def EASTS TIGERS 16 (Lance Morris, Dane Chisholm, Fred Pakutoa tries; Adam Breen 2 goals) at Barlow Park.
