Bulldogs whiz kid Ben Barba leads the Toyota Cup (NYC) point scoring charts and is equal leading try scorer after nine rounds of the excellent new competition introduced by the NRL.
Barba, who plays halfback, five-eighth and even fullback has been the shining light for the Bulldogs in the Toyota Cup this season with calls for him to be given his chance in first grade with the Bulldogs struggling with injuries and poor form at NRL level. Barba has been compared with both Ewan McGrady and Johnathan Thurston although his style and build is very similar to Cowboys superstar Matt Bowen.
The Mackay junior has a nine point lead ahead of Canberra's Josh Dugan and Souths wonderboy Chris Sandow, who is also the leading goal kicker with 32 and has the best percentage of the notable goal kickers with 84.
Sharing the lead at the top of the try scorers with Barba is Canberra centre Justin Carney. Both Carney and Barba have 11 tries with Carney achieving that feat in one less match. Boom Penrith talent Lachlan Coote is 3rd highest try scorer with nine.
