Source: www.melbournestorm.com.auThe re-signings have continued at the Melbourne Storm with representative front-rower Adam Blair putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal today that will see him stay at the club until the end of the 2011 season.
Blair joins fellow representative forwards Dallas Johnson and Jeff Lima, along with coach Craig Bellamy, who have committed their futures to the Storm in recent weeks.
Several clubs enquired about Blair's services for next year, but the agile prop decided his football was best served remaining at the Storm.
"Blair's re-signing is yet another example of a quality player who is willing to stay in Melbourne for less money," said football operations manager Frank Ponissi.
"The reason for this is the culture created by Craig Bellamy and his coaching staff here.
"Blair could have signed with a rival NRL club for more money, but he believes his best chance of continued success is with the Melbourne Storm."
While deciding where his footballing future lay, Blair didn't have to think too long as to why Melbourne was the best place for him.
"I've got a great group of friends at the club and the whole group is really tight-knit," said Blair.
"Because everyone is from interstate or New Zealand, the whole group becomes you're extended family and it's a great environment to play your football in.
"We've got the best coaching staff in the game, the club have always supported me and I believe we've got a chance to have continued success if the playing group sticks together as much as possible."
After signing with the Melbourne Storm in 2003, Blair's career took a quantum leap in 2006, making his NRL debut and playing 16 games, culminating in a grand final appearance.
In the same year he represented New Zealand in the Tri-Nations Series, going on to win the competition defeating Australia in the final.
However, a serious foot injury in that Tri-Nations final derailed his 2007 season, only making eight appearances in first-grade.
So far in 2008 Blair has played eight first-grade games for the Storm, as well as playing for New Zealand in the Centenary Test, and looks to be back to the kind of form that made him one of the standout front-rowers in the NRL in 2006.
