North Queensland's games record holder took part in a coaching clinic and signing session with around 200 young footballers at the Litchfield Bears on Thursday morning, and Bowen thinks he may have converted a few of them into Cowboys supporters.
There is no doubt there's plenty of support already in the Top End for the Cowboys, who should have a big crowd of members and fans backing them against the Roosters in their round seven NRL match at TIO Stadium on Saturday night.
There were Cowboys jerseys and shirts dotted in amongst the Bears jerseys at Litchfield, about 30 minutes south of the Darwin CBD.
"It's always good to be able to do these sort of things," Bowen said at today's clinic, one of two where the Cowboys players featured.
"The kids get a kick out of it and I'm sure the boys do as well.
"We've come up here for the last three years and I think we're getting a bit of a Cowboys fan base up here.
"It's a bit of a home away from home.
"I'm sure we'll have a crowd turn out for us on Saturday night and hopefully we can get the two points for them."
While North Queensland has been in Darwin since Tuesday afternoon, the Roosters arrive late on Thursday, giving them only a couple of days to acclimatise to the heat and humidity.
"Obviously the heat will hit them and we'll see what happens," Bowen said.
"We have similar conditions at home and the Roosters coming from Sydney will find it difficult.
"But if you drop a lot of ball on Saturday night, I'm sure we'll find it hard as well."

Source: www.cowboys.com.auMatthew Bowen will long remember his 30th birthday after conjuring up a 79th minute try to give North Queensland a heart-stopping 28-26 victory against arch-rivals Brisbane on Friday night.
The 20-metre run from the back of the scrum was Bowen's second try of the night and sparked huge celebrations amongst his teammates and Cowboys members and supporters in the crowd of 43,171.
Bowen packs at lock in almost every North Queensland scrum but rarely does he run on his own.
No-one else apart from the Cowboys game record holder knew what he was about to do after the Broncos came up with a crucial error in their own half.
His try, which followed a 55th minute four-pointer, took him past 500 career points but more importantly gained NQ its first win of 2012 and laid to rest the memories of the opening round shocker against the Gold Coast.
North Queensland made a great start and cashed in when lock Dallas Johnson crossed for his first try for the club, after going tryless for the entire 2011 season, in the fifth minute.
Brisbane replied when winger Jharal Yow Yeh slid over in the right corner following a quick shift and spread with skipper Sam Thaiday, playing his 150th game for the club, delivering the last pass.
The Cowboys broke 16-8 ahead with tries to hooker James Segeyaro and centre Brent Tate, both after green lights from video referee, but then had their advantage quickly wiped out in the second half.
A dropped ball from Bowen led to bench forward Josh McGuire's try and five minutes later, the Broncos were in again when centre Jack Reed delivered a one-handed looping pass to winger Gerard Beale for Brisbane to lead 20-16.
The enigmatic Bowen scored the first in his double off a lovely Johnathan Thurston pass, but the Cowboys' third lead of the game lasted 14 minutes with Ben Te'o finishing off a slick last-tackle movement involving hooker Andrew McCullough, Corey Norman and Justin Hodges.
Corey Parker's fifth goal from five attempts had the Broncos four points ahead until Bowen struck.
Thurston delivered the eventual winning blow, kicking the conversion from in front in the final minute.
The result ended Brisbane's nine-game winning streak at Suncorp Stadium and reassured Cowboys' fans that the 18-0 loss to the Gold Coast the previous weekend was an aberration.
Co-captain Matthew Scott was outstanding for the Cowboys, amassing a game-high 153 metres in 16 hit-ups while Johnson threw in 41 tackles with his try.
