Former England wing Mark Calderwood is on a trial with Harlequins RL, until the end of February. Acknowledged as one of the fastest men in the Engage Super League, Calderwood has an impressive try scoring pedigree.

He broke into the Leeds Rhinos first team in 2001 having scored over 40 tries for the Academy and his first Super League touchdown was on his debut against the London Broncos. Also in that year, Calderwood won the Eddie Waring Memorial Award for the best try scored in the Challenge Cup.

In 2002 and 2003 he finished the leading try scorer at Leeds Rhinos and the leading try scorer for Super League. He was a Grand Final winner with Leeds Rhinos in 2004 when Leeds beat Bradford Bulls 16-8 at Old Trafford.

2005 was another good season for Calderwood, finishing as the leading Super League try scorer for the third time with 27 touchdowns in 28 appearances and 35 tries in all competitions. He then signed a two year contract with Wigan Warriors but 2006 proved a tough season.

The Warriors were battling against relegation and Calderwood missed several months through injury. But the following year he claimed a hat trick in a spectacular 31-30 win over the Bradford in the play offs, the Warriors coming back from a 30-6 deficit.

After one more season with the Wigan he moved to Hull FC but injury blighted his time there, having played four games during the 2010 season. He's hoping to re-ignite his career with Harlequins RL.

Calderwood has represented Yorkshire and England and is also eligible for Jamaica and the West Indies. He could add to Harlequins RL's roster of London players having been born in the capital and still has family in the area.
