Hurricanes Rugby League Jamaica are pleased to announce our first ever Membership packages.
There will be 2 membership packages available to the general public, which will serve to further develop the sport of rugby league in Jamaica and to provide playing and career opportunities to talented young players. Both packages are extremely well priced and enable individuals and companies the world over to contribute to this wonderful concept.
The first package available, for US$50, is a General Membership which will allow individuals to align themselves with the Hurricanes and receive a number of benefits such as monthly e-newsletter, discounts on merchandise, key ring, signed team poster and invitations to special functions.
The second package (US$150), which is only available for a limited time, is a Foundation Membership. This package will have all the benefits of the General Membership plus a commemorative cap, official certificate and name to be displayed on the Hurricanes website. The Foundation Membership will only be available until February 2012. Funds raised through the Foundation Membership will assist the Hurricanes in setting up numerous projects which will benefit the long term development of players. Such projects include gym equipment, purchase of a bus for transport requirements and food allowance for players who ordinarily struggle for adequate nutrition.
Individuals can purchase a membership package contacting info@hurricanesrugbyleague.com
The aim is to have 100 Foundation Members and 250 General Members by February 2012. To make this a reality, we are asking all our fans to please spread the word of the Hurricanes and the amazing benefits their membership can make in the lives of young Jamaican rugby league players. Hurricanes Rugby League have entered into an extremely beneficial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with leading Jamaican sports education facility GC Foster College in St Catherine.
A formal press conference for the signing of the MOU was conducted on Tuesday 26th July at GC Foster in the lavish Board Room and was attended by members of the Hurricanes Rugby League, GC Foster Principle Mr Edward Shakes, GC Foster lecturers, Jamaica Rugby League Association representatives and various media organisations.
The signing represents a significant move forward for the Hurricanes Academy program, with GC Foster now becoming the official training and education facility for the Hurricanes Academy. Players will have access to top class playing fields, weights room, physiotherapy and swimming pool for recovery purposes. Additional to the usage of the facilities, the MOU allows for further discussion relating to potential scholarships at GC Foster College for elite performing Hurricanes Academy members once they have graduated from High School. GC Foster College and Hurricanes Rugby League will also work on curriculum relating to match officials and coach education courses. Such courses will further develop the overall understanding of the game for the Academy members and once qualified they will conduct development clinics for the local communities surrounding GC Foster College and greater St Catherine, Kingston & St Andrews and Clarendon parishes.
Commenting on the signing, Hurricanes owner Dane Campbell: "The signing of the MOU with GC Foster College is a crucial step forward for the development of the Hurricanes Academy program and will allow for these talented young players to not only have access to first class facilities, but also gain further education in the game of rugby league. Through the Hurricanes Academy we are trying to promote a holistic approach to a players development which includes physical and mental preparation for training and games and off field education such as coaching techniques, nutrition information, recovery methods, drug and alcohol awareness, public speaking and becoming a role model amongst other things. The MOU with GC Foster allows us to further these programs and it is a pleasure to sign this agreement and I look forward to the future working relationship with GC Foster College."
As recognition of this partnership between the Hurricanes Rugby League and GC Foster College, the Hurricanes Academy training and playing uniforms will adorn the GC Foster College logo, with other key benefits also in place.
