Source: www.cowboys.com.auNew Zealand winger Kalifa Faifai Loa is set to make his first appearance of the year in the Cowboys NRL squad after being named in the team for the round seven clash with the Roosters at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
The Cowboys have lost centre Kane Linnett to a hamstring injury, giving Faifai Loa his chance in the backline after spending the first part of 2012 playing for the Northern Pride in the Intrust Super Cup.
Fellow Kiwi Antonio Winterstein will switch from the wing to take over Linnett's role at left centre.
Faifai Loa played 20 NRL matches for the Cowboys in his first season with the club in 2011 after making his debut in round three against the Melbourne Storm and finished the year by playing two Tests for the Kiwis against Australia.
Coach Neil Henry has recalled forward Scott Bolton who has recovered from a knee injury and also included outside back Mosese Pangai, who made his NRL debut against the Gold Coast Titans in round one, in an 18-man squad for the Cowboys' first match for premiership points in the Northern Territory.
The Cowboys will arrive in Darwin this afternoon for a week-long stay that will include coaching clinics, a visit to Royal Darwin Hospital, an open training session, development clinics in Katherine and Jabiru, a Carbine Club lunch, parliamentary reception and a coaches forum held in conjunction with the Northern Territory Rugby League.
With a three-three win-loss record, North Queensland is ninth on the NRL ladder, while the Roosters hold down fifth place after winning four of their first six.
Saturday night's match kicks off at 7pm (NT time) and will be live on Fox Sports - follow the Cowboys Twitter feed @nthqldcowboys for live score updates.

Source: www.cowboys.com.auNew Zealand Test winger Kalifa Faifai Loa will play in the NRL with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys until at least the end of the 2014 season after signing a two-year contract extension.
The 21-year-old produced an eye-catching first season with the Cowboys in 2011, playing in 22 matches after making his debut for the club in round three against the Melbourne Storm.
He was originally signed until the end of the 2012 season but General Manager - Football Peter Parr said the young winger's impressive progress made him a priority for a contract extension.
"We're very pleased with how Kalifa has improved since coming to the club and think he will become an even better footballer with the more experience he gains in the NRL," Parr said.
"We're looking forward to seeing him continue that development as a North Queensland Cowboy.
"He's just played Test football at just 21 years of age and to have him commit to the Cowboys is something we're delighted about."
Faifai Loa crossed for 10 tries in 2011, placing him second behind Paul Bowman Medal winner Ashley Graham on North Queensland's tryscoring list.
He was also second, behind Graham, for most metres gained by a Cowboy this season and his year culminated in two Tests appearances for New Zealand against Australia, including one in the Four Nations tournament in Great Britain.
Faifai Loa said signing with the Cowboys had been the best decision he had made so far in his rugby league career and he was happy he was staying in North Queensland.
"I really enjoy playing for the Cowboys, working with the coaching staff we have and living up here," he said.
"I have some great mates at the club and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
"We had a good 2011 and I think we have the players to go even better in 2012 and beyond."
