To honour their former player who passed away on Monday, the Cowboys have had their NRL jerseys embroidered with the words "Sam Faust 184" which now sit just below the Cowboys logo.
Sam became the 184th player to play an NRL game for North Queensland when he made his debut in the 2007 season.
The special jerseys will be worn for the first time in the round 12 home game against the Roosters on Saturday night when a minute's silence will also be observed.
Cowboys CEO Peter Jourdain said the Sam Faust jerseys would be worn in each game for the duration of the 2011 competition.
"We think it's a great way to honour Sam and show what an important part of the Cowboys' family he still is," Mr Jourdain.
"We'd like to thank the NRL for agreeing to our request to honour Sam in this way and everyone else who has made it happen so quickly this week."
Several of the current Cowboys NRL squad played with Sam during his time in North Queensland, including co-captains Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott, hooker Aaron Payne, fullback Matthew Bowen and winger Ashley Graham.
Payne was part of the jersey announcement at the Cowboys' headquarters today.
"I know all the players will be proud to have Sam's name and number on their jerseys when we play each week," Payne said.
"A player's number is an important part of their history with the Cowboys and it's great that 184 will be on the field with us for the rest of the season."
Sam's funeral will be held at the Entertainment Centre in Proserpine on Monday, May 30, at 10.30am.
The Cowboys' NRL playing roster and coaching staff will be at the service to pay their respects.
