Source: www.warriors.co.nzHooker Nathan Fien will start at standoff and Michael Crockett is back on the wing for the Vodafone Warriors' 12th round NRL clash against Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium on Saturday night.
With Micheal Witt still troubled by a hip flexor problem, coach Ivan Cleary has moved Fien (28) out of his regular dummy half role to run in the No 6 jersey in his 171st NRL appearance.
That means Jerome Ropati (24) reverts to the centres after filling the standoff's spot in the last two matches against Penrith and the Sydney Roosters.
The 25-year-old Crockett missed last Sunday's outing but returns after scoring three tries for the Auckland Vulcans in last Friday night's New South Wales Cup encounter with Manly.
"We still see Jerome as an option at No 6 but he has missed a lot of football through injury recently and is working back to full match fitness," said Cleary.
"Nathan has a background in the halves and he'll be able to help us in that role this weekend. At the same time, Ian Henderson has been in really good form and deserves the chance to start at hooker."
The backline changes see Simon Mannering back in his preferred spot in the second row after being used in the centres against the Roosters. He'll have 20-year-old Sonny Fai as his starting partner this week with Epalahame Lauaki swapping roles to come off the bench.
Regular winger Patrick Ah Van is set to turn out for the Vodafone Junior Warriors in their NYC under-20 clash against the Knights on Saturday night while Manu Vatuvei (leg), Wade McKinnon (knee), Malo Solomona (leg) and Witt were not considered due to injury.
Veteran prop Ruben Wiki will make his return from injury with the Auckland Vulcans in their New South Wales Cup match against the Western Suburbs Magpies on Mt Smart Stadium's No 2 ground on Saturday. Also joining him will be back rower Wairangi Koopu, centre Ryan Shortland and prop Herman Retzlaff.
"With Steve (Price) back and Russell (Packer) on the way up, we have a lot of choices at prop at the moment," said Cleary.
"Ruben has had a couple of niggles. We want him in peak form and he'll be back in the NRL side soon if he does that."
Ben Matulino (19), who has been impressive for the Vodafone Junior Warriors, has been named as 18th man for the trip to Newcastle.

Controversial Warriors hooker Nathan Fien was today added to the New Zealand Kiwis train-on squad despite being part of the 'granny-gate' scandal last year.
Fien 'qualified' for the Kiwis last year under the grand parent rule and it was revealed during the Tri Nations tournament that it was in fact his great grand mother that was a Kiwi and not his grand mother. Fien was withdrawn from the Tri Nations and New Zealand was stripped of their victory against Great Britain.
This year Fien has qualified for New Zealand under the three year residency rule having spent the last three years in Auckland.
New Zealand coach Gary Kemble did not expect any negative reaction to the Queensland-born Fien's inclusion in the squad.
"At the end of the day, the rules and regulations are set in place by the International Rugby League Federation and we abide by those rules," Kemble said.
In total there were seven players from the Warriors that made the train-on squad following their omission from the NRL competition at the hand of the Johnathan Thurston led Cowboys yesterday.
Bulldogs trio Ben Roberts, Matt Utai and Sonny Bill Williams made the train-on squad, although Williams has been ruled out for eight weeks after sustaining a spiral fracture in his right arm during the early exchanges in the Bulldogs disappointing and lacklustre 25-6 loss against Parramatta on Saturday night. Utai was by far the Bulldogs best player on the weekend and showed the class that made him a big match performer of recent seasons whereas Roberts selection exposes the lack of depth in the New Zealand halves.
Warrington's Vinnie Anderson is the only UK based player to be included in the Kiwis train-on squad from clubs that failed to qualify for the Super League finals.
The Kiwis play Australia in the Centenary Test in Wellington on October 14 before three Tests against Great Britain on October 27, November 3 and 10 and a one-off Test against France in Paris on November 17.
Player additions: Louis Anderson, Nathan Fien, Lance Hohaia, Epalahame Lauaki, Simon Mannering, Sam Rapira, Evarn Tuimavave (all NZ Warriors); Ben Roberts, Matt Utai, Sonny Bill Williams (Canterbury Bulldogs); Vinnie Anderson (Warrington).
New Zealand's original train-on squad: Roy Asotasi (South Sydney), Rangi Chase (St George Illawarra), Luke Covell (Cronulla), Greg Eastwood (Brisbane), Dene Halatau (Wests Tigers), Bronson Harrison (Wests Tigers), Issac Luke (South Sydney), Shaun Kenny-Dowall (Sydney Roosters), David Kidwell (South Sydney), Sam Perrett (Sydney Roosters), Frank Pritchard (Penrith), Jeremy Smith (South Sydney), Chase Stanley (St George Illawarra), Ben Teo'o (Wests Tigers), Taniela Tuiaki (Wests Tigers), Cooper Vuna (Newcastle), Jake Webster (Gold Coast), Paul Whatuira (Wests Tigers).
