Flugge in danger of missing Wizard Cup Grand Final

Redcliffe's Grant Flugge is in danger of missing the 2007 Queensland Wizard Cup Grand Final, facing a possible three-week ban for a dangerous throw.

With the Dolphins playing no more games until the September 15 decider, such a ban would effectively rule the tough backrower out until Round Three of the 2008 season.

Flugge was one of four Redcliffe players reviewed for a heated major semi against North Queensland, won 28-18 by the Dolphins.

Teammate Danny Burke has been charged with a grade one careless high tackle, but does not have enough demerits to be sidelined. Meanwhile Shannon Fish and Daniel Joyce were found to have no case to answer on unrelated high shots.

Redcliffe management has indicated it will plea for a downgrade of Flugge's charge to a grade one. With an early plea to a grade one, Flugge would have just 93 demerits and be free of suspension.

The hearing will take place at QRL headquarters at 5pm Thursday.

Redcliffe's opponent in the grand final will be the winner of this Saturday's preliminary final between the North Queensland Young Guns and Tweed Heads Seagulls, played 2pm at Langlands Park, Brisbane.
