Newly-appointed Rovers' skipper, Ben Galea, has admitted that he's over the moon to have been chosen as the man to lead the side into 2012.
Head Coach, Craig Sandercock, has spent the past few weeks mulling over who he would install as the successor to long-serving former captain, Mick Vella, who retired at the end of last season.
He eventually opted for Galea and the former West Tigers' second rower is delighted to be taking on the role.
"I'm over the moon to be named as captain," he said. "It's been something that I've always wanted to do and I'm extremely grateful that Sandy (Craig Sandercock) has given me the chance to do so.
"We have a great group of players here and a strong group of leaders who I'm sure will give me great support. Hull KR is a club with a fantastic history that has had many great captains and I hope that I can do a great job for the club and its supporters in 2012."
Sandercock readily admitted that it was a tough decision to make having narrowed things down to three potential candidates.
"It was a very, very close decision between Benny, Michael Dobson and Blake Green," he said. "All three of them have shown some outstanding leadership qualities since day one of pre-season training, but in the end Ben just got the nod because of his experience.
"He's played on the winning team in an NRL Grand Final, he has the respect of all the other boys and that just tipped the balance in his favour. I took my time over making the decision because it's a pretty important role in terms of being an extension of the coach on both the training field and on a game day. Benny is a very good player and a great professional and I'm sure he'll do a terrific job."

The 32-year old has extended his stay at Craven Park having marked 100 appearances for the club with a first career hat-trick in last weekend's win over Crusaders RL.
Former Wests Tigers man Galea was named in the 2009 Super League Dream Team and has been an ever present for the red and whites in 2011 as they compete for a play-off place and prepare to face St. Helens in the Carnegie Challenge Cup quarter-final in under two weeks time.
"I'm over the moon," said Galea after putting pen to paper on the deal on Tuesday afternoon.
"I think we've still got a lot to achieve and I'm really happy to sign a new one-year deal
"I think we're not far off. We won one semi-final last year and we're getting there. This year is a good opportunity for us to have a crack at it.
"I played my whole career at one club in the NRL and it'd be nice to be able to do that over here as well, so I'm really happy to be staying at Hull KR."
Rovers Head Coach Justin Morgan was delighted to keep Galea in east Hull for a further season.
"Ben has been a fantastic player for the club since he arrived in 2008 and the quality of his performances this year have certainly warranted another year at the club.
"There aren't many back-rowers with the ball handling skills that Ben has and his experience will continue to play an important part in helping develop some of the younger players we have in the squad, both on and off the field."
The Robins have today also announced that full-back Shaun Briscoe will leave the club at the end of the season.
Briscoe, 28, has made 92 appearances and scored 30 tries in his Hull KR career to date.
"Shaun has played an important role in our progression through recent seasons and will continue to be an integral part of our challenge on both fronts in the remainder of 2011," said Morgan.
"He has earned international honours during his time here and everybody at the club will send him on to the next challenge in his career with our very best wishes at the end of the year."
