Redcliffe rejoined the winners circle at the weekend, demolishing Norths Devils 50-18 in a dominant display at Dolphin Oval.

Dolphins Liam Georgetown and Luke Capewell benefitted most from the performance, scoring four and three tries respectively. Fullback Dane Gagai turned in another impressive performance, breaking the defensive line at will and proving a handful for the opposition.

In his 101st game for the Dolphins, Georgetown nabbed a hat-trick in the first 20 minutes of the game on his way to a 30-point haul.

The first points of the afternoon came after Delroy Berryman made a break from his 20m line, sprinting down the sideline before passing inside to Capewell who was stopped 30m short of the line.

Two plays later, a cross-field kick was contested and Georgetown pounced on the loose ball to score in the corner.

Just three minutes later Georgetown was in again when quick hands across the backline led to him to receive the ball 10m out, before he toed ahead, regathered and scored. His conversion was just as spectacular, the ball bouncing off the crossbar and over to seal a 10-0 lead.

Redcliffe added three more quick tries in the next 10 minutes, with Capewell, Berryman and Georgetown all crossing the line to set up a 26-0 lead in only the 24th minute.

After finally getting some decent possession and field position, Norths Devils hit back in the 31st minute when hooker Kurt Baptiste exploited an offside marker and fought his way to a four-pointer.

Brisbane Bronco Mitchell Frei added the extras to take the score to 26-6, where it remained until halftime.

The second half continued much the same as the first, with Capewell scoring his second with a sublime individual effort in the 44th minute.

Showing both his classy footwork and speed, the former Ipswich Jet sliced through the defensive line on the halfway line, before employing his big left foot step for the second time to beat Norths fullback Daniel Ogden to score under the sticks.

When Isaak Ah Mau crossed in the 52nd minute, the Devils defence seemed to completely disappear.

In the first set from the restart, the Dolphins scored through Georgetown, then again after Tui Samoa broke the line and unloaded to Capewell for him to seal his hat-trick. The successful conversions gave Redcliffe a 50-6 lead in just the 58th minute.

It would be the Dolphins final points, as Kieran English pegged one back for the visitors three minutes later, after the Devils shifted the ball through the hands before finding the winger unopposed.

Frei's sideline conversion made it 50-12, before Baptiste scored the final try of the game in the 67th, grabbing his second from dummy half under the sticks. Sione Lolohea converted to give the final score of 50-18.

Next week, Redcliffe travel to Piggabeen Sports Complex to take on Tweed Heads Seagulls in the Match of the Round.

Norths Devils will travel to Gladstone to take on Central Capras on Saturday night.

QCup Rd 5 Redcliffe 70 Souths Logan 18

A near flawless first half performance from the Redcliffe Dolphins saw them claim a massive 70-18 win over the Souths Logan Magpies at Dolphin Oval on Easter Sunday.

Redcliffe winger Liam Georgetown had an outing to remember - picking up a personal haul of 34 points in the victory.

His hat-trick of tries and 11 conversions saw him come up only six points short of the Cup record haul held by Greg Bourke (Burleigh) and Damian Richards (Redcliffe).

The afternoon started well for the Dolphins when Dane Gagai got a good bounce from a Joe Bond up-and-under kick to open the scoring. The ball went over the head of the Magpie defenders and it gave an early indication that luck was on the side of the Dolphins on this afternoon.

From there, the home side never relented, piling on more tries as they worked their way towards a 42-6 halftime lead.

Tries came through the middle, from close to the line and via the edges ? with halfback Luke Capewell featuring heavily in a number of the four-pointers, including scoring two tries of his own.

The Dolphins' kicking game was on song, which established pressure early; while other tries came off the back of some Magpie errors.

However, while the final scoreline may make it seem otherwise, the Magpies never gave up in the game where they were outclassed and outmuscled by a ruthless Redcliffe side.

One highlight for the Magpies came in the second half with an impressive try to Josh Damen, which even had the Dolphins faithful applauding his effort.

The lanky fullback had previously made a number of busts for the visitors, but this time he managed to run 80m down the right sideline to add to the score.

However, it was undoubtedly the Dolphins' day, with the home side finishing the afternoon with a late flurry of tries, which included two streaky efforts from Georgetown.

The Queensland Residents winger also had a near-perfect day with the boot, only missing the final conversion off his own try after the siren.

Redcliffe will now have a week off before they play in Week 2 of the Round 6 Split Round, while Souths Logan will only have a week to regroup before they face Norths Devils next Sunday.
