Billy Slater is now within sight of the try-scoring record for the Melbourne Storm set by long-serving stalwart Matt Geyer.
The Storm flyer last Sunday registered his 112th career NRL try - meaning he is now just one try short of Geyer's club record.
Geyer, who retired at the end of the 2008 season, scored 113 tries in a decorated career that spanned 262 games for the Storm.
Slater now has the chance to equal - or perhaps even better - the record in his 177th NRL game this Saturday night against Cronulla at AAMI Park.
Slater's try-scoring prowess sees him enter the Sharks clash with a stunning strike-rate of a try every 1.57 games.

Source: www.qrl.com.auWYNNUM Manly is fast becoming the Queensland Cup's 'wet track specialist' after emerging from yet another mud bath with a comfortable victory.
A week after beating Redcliffe 24-6 on a wet BMD Kougari Oval, the Seagulls again had to drag their legs through a heavy surface in Saturday's crucial round 15 clash against the Norths Devils at Bishop Park.
"The Comets game was probably the last time we played in the dry," said Wynnum Manly coach Shane McNally, whose team picked up its third straight win with a 26-18 victory over the Devils.
Wynnum Manly led Saturday's clash 16-12 at half-time and went on with the job in the second half.
Despite the slippery conditions, the Seagulls completed 36 out of their 41 sets in a first-class performance.
"We had a really good completion rate considering the conditions," McNally said.
McNally, who will this week prepare the City team for the annual clash against Country, was also pleased with his team's gutsy defensive effort.
"Our defence again was good. We rolled our sleeves up and worked hard for each other," he said.
Halfback Matt Seamark and classy rake Jake Granville were outstanding for the visiting Seagulls.
Granville put the result beyond doubt in the second half when he chipped over the top and re-gathered to score a sensational try.
The Broncos contracted youngster has shown amazing resilience to get back on the park this year after suffering a badly broken leg and dislocated ankle last season.
Granville came off the bench and added plenty of spark.
"He's that type of player ?he's very quick and he's good out of dummy half," McNally enthused.
Devils hooker Jay Aston did his best to ignite the home team, crossing for two important tries.
Former Melbourne Storm premiership winning utility Matt Geyer turned out for the Devils in yesterday's match.
McNally conceded it was a "bit of a surprise" to see Geyer's name on the team sheet.
"He was sound," McNally said.
"Obviously he hasn't played for a while."
Wynnum Manly finished the match with injuries to five-eighth Chris Birch and prop Angus Martin (concussion).
But with no club fixtures scheduled for next weekend, the key pair should be fit for the Seagulls' round 16 clash against Mackay.
The Seagulls went into Saturday's clash without strike weapon Simon Phillips. The gun fullback was replaced by Colts star Luke Brechin.
"He did really well for us, particularly in those conditions," McNally said.
"It's never fun playing fullback when the ball is wet and it's slippery under foot."
WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS 26 (Jason Moon 2, Matt Seamark, Luke Dalziel Don, Jake Granville tries; Matt Seamark 3 goals) def NORTHS DEVILS 18 (Jay Aston 2, Jace Brown tries; Ryan Hansen 3 goals) at Bishop Park.
