Gordon named in Panthers squad for Manly clash
Tue April 19, 2011
by Matthew O'Neill
Former Canterbury and Souths utility Yileen Gordon has been named in an extended squad for Penrith's important round 7 clash against Manly at Brookvale Oval on Good Friday.

Penrith coach Matthew Elliott named an unchanged 17 that lost 25-10 against Melbourne last Sunday with Gordon's selection the only addition to the squad.

Gordon joined the Panthers after two seasons with the Bulldogs and previously he played at South Sydney. Gordon is yet to appear in the top grade for Panthers this season.

Penrith have won just two of their opening six matches with the victories coming against the 15th placed Eels and 16th placed Raiders.

Manly on the other hand have been in good form winning four out of six matches with their only losses being narrow defeats against Melbourne and South Sydney.

Morris, Gordon and Halatau named in Bulldogs squad

Canterbury-Bankstown coach Kevin Moore has today announced a number of key players will return from injury when he named his team for this Friday's Men of League Heritage Round clash with the Dragons.

Josh Morris (eye), Yileen Gordon (ankle) and Dene Halatau (knee) were all included in the Bulldogs 18 man squad, which will be finalised just prior to the 7.30pm kick off at ANZ Stadium.

The build up for the match has been enormous with pre-sold tickets indicating a bumper crowd of over 35,000 people. The expected crowd will be able to join in the celebration of a number of initiatives on the night, including the 25 year anniversary of the 1985 grand final.

Another important initiative sees the Bulldogs again join forces with beyondblue to help raise awareness of depression in women. After dedicating their round one match of the season to depression and related disorders amongst the sporting community, this weekend they will turn their attention to another important mental health issue - depression and related disorders during pregnancy and after birth.

"Depression after birth and during pregnancy is common in Australia. Around 9 per cent of mothers experience depression whilst pregnant and almost 16 per cent of new mothers experience depression postnatally. This is not only a women's issue, as it can have a dramatic effect on relationships and families," beyondblue CEO Leonie Young says.

The Bulldogs really are 'The Family Club' and are pleased to provide beyondblue with a way to communicate important messages about depression, anxiety and related disorders.

"As The Family Club, I feel we have a strong obligation to raise awareness of the toll depression can have on so many people during this stage of their life," said Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg.
