Luke Robinson, Scott Grix and Jermaine McGillvary were amongst the winners at the sold out 2011 Giants Awards evening held at the Galpharm Stadium - with England International Robinson selected by Nathan Brown and his staff for Coaches Player of the Year, whilst also getting the nod from his team mates as Players Player of the Year.

Popular full-back Scott Grix was selected by the fans as Supporters Player of the Year after he received 31% of the vote held on giantsrl.com and 23 year old flyer McGillvary walked away with three awards - 'Giants on Tour' Player of the Year, Most Meters Gained and Top Try scorer.

Hard working back-row forward Lee Gilmour was rewarded for his efforts in defence by picking up the Top Tackler of the Year award, while Michael Lawrence took the accolade for 'Community Player of the Year' due to his commitment in making appearances to promote the club in the local region.

Lawrence was also adjudged the winner of the 'Try of the Season' award which was voted for on the evening by the public attending, with an honourable mention for the role of Leroy Cudjoe in creating what was a memorable score.

The Outstanding Achievement award, selected by the club's board of directors, went to the team which represented the club for the 38-6 victory over Leeds back in April - the first over the Giants West Yorkshire rivals at Headingley in 51 years.

Some of the clubs aspiring young talent were also rewarded for their efforts throughout the year, Ben Whitehead was named the Most Improved Academy player whilst his team mate Elliot Gorman picked up the Under-18's Player of the Year. Hard working back-row forward Joe Fox was named the Under-20's Player of the Year.

Huddersfield back to winning ways

Full-back Scott Grix weighed in with two tries and five goals as Huddersfield got back to winning ways with a comfortable win over Hull KR.

The Giants had lost their last two Engage Super League matches but recovered from going behind early on to ease to victory at the Galpharm Stadium.

Scott Taylor put Rovers in front with a fifth-minute try converted by Michael Dobson, but Leroy Cudjoe levelled with a converted try in the 16th minute when he outjumped Peter Fox to reach a Luke Robinson high kick.

David Faiumu put Huddersfield in front in the 19th minute with a converted score only for Josh Hodgson to level four minutes later after Clint Newton's breakaway.

Dobson converted again, and then added a penalty in the 25th minute before Huddersfield had a try ruled out on the half hour when Larne Patrick was ruled not to have grounded the ball.

Grix pounced in the 35th minute to put the Giants 16-14 ahead. A Rovers player knocked the ball out of Huddersfield substitute Andy Raleigh's hands as he surged for the line, and Grix dived in to get the touchdown.

He then converted to stretch the home side's lead to four points.

Huddersfield went in at the break 24-14 in front thanks to a defensive mix-up from the visitors on half-time.

The flight of a high kick was misjudged and Graeme Horne cleverly tapped the ball over the head of the last covering defender and then nipped round to score. Cudjoe this time converted.

The second half continued tit for tat. Ben Fisher's converted touchdown pulled the Robins to within four points of the Giants just after the restart, before Horne quickly replied for the Giants in the 47th minute to make the score 30-20.

Jake Webster scored the night's best try with a stunning solo run from the halfway line in the 52nd minute after slick passing from Rovers deep inside their own half.

Dobson again converted, but Huddersfield powered to victory with tries from Danny Kirmond, Grix and Eorl Crabtree.

Grix's second try came in the 64th minute when he latched on to a kick inside from Jermaine McGillvary after the winger's impressive solo dash down the touchline.

Hull KR's misery was complete when Newton was sin-binned for dissent eight minutes from time.
