Source: www.scotlandrl.comScotland Rugby League are celebrating the arrival of their team in Australia today for the World Cup with the release of a new T-shirt celebrating the heritage of the game north of the border.
As you can see from the photos, Scotland forward Duncan MacGillivray went to work in his - at Wakefield Trinity's Belle Vue ground - and half-back Andrew Henderson - one of three brothers in the Scotland squad - showed his off in front of the Saltire!
It's the latest shirt in a series called Le Treize Patrimoine - French for 'The Rugby League Heritage' - and features the names of a string of Scottish rugby league stars of the past including Great Britain's 1954 World Cup winning captain Dave Valentine and team-mate David Rose, who scored one of GB's two tries in the final. Huddersfield legend Valentine and Rose are just two of seven Great Britain internationals on the T-shirt. The others are Wigan's 1929 Wembley hero Roy Kinnear (father of the comic actor with the same name and grandfather of current star West End actor Rory Kinnear); Leeds' prolific young winger of the 1950s, Drew Turnball; duel-code British Lion Alan Tait; Hull KR legend George Fairbairn (who became England's record points-scorer when there was no Scotland team in the 1980s); and Charlie Renilson, who went from Jed-Forest to Eastern Suburbs via Halifax, with whom he won the Championship in 1965.
Also on the T-shirt is maverick Whitehaven scrum-half Brian Shillinglaw and former Salford and Halifax forward, Hugh Duffy,who, like Rose, headed south from Jedforest in the 50s.
