21-year-old Hodgson signed from cross-city rivals Hull FC at the end of the 2009 season and has since gone on to make 27 Super League appearances in the famous red and white.
Hodgson's deal gives the Robins the option of a third year that would take him through to the end of the 2014 season, with Head Coach Justin Morgan saying the deal is reward for the youngsters improvement since joining the club.
"Josh has a great attitude to developing his game and I think we've seen the fruits of that particularly at the start of this campaign where he's performed very well.
"There's still plenty of improvement in him and I think that's the most exciting thing. It's also why we're delighted that he'll be part of the squad for at least another two years."
The Robins youngster was equally pleased to commit himself to the Rovers cause and believes the red and whites have a squad capable of building on recent successful years and becoming regular trophy contenders.
"I've learnt a lot from the players here and I think I've improved quite a lot," said Hodgson.
"I'm really looking forward to spending the next few years here.
"It's a great bunch of lads, a great team, great coaches and I don't want to leave.
"Everybody wants to win silverware. It's what you dream of as a kid. We'll take one step at a time and one round at a time but if we keep doing what we're doing then I don't see any reason why we can't."
Hull KR Chief Executive, Mike Smith added: "Josh is a young, English talent that we see playing an important role in Hull Kingston Rovers moving forward.
"We've got three members of our squad in the Elite England squad this year and we're also seeing our Youth Development programme pick up pace and nurturing local talent for the first team.
"Josh is a fine example to any young player coming through the ranks that Hull KR is a club not afraid to give youngsters the opportunity to play Super League rugby."
