Source: www.qrl.com.auNORTHERN Pride coach Andrew Dunemann concedes he is wary of a Central Comets team that is beginning to show glimpses of its sensational early season form.
The Comets put a forgettable month behind them when they came from four points down at half-time to beat the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles 21-14 in Saturday night's qualifying final.
Central's victory has set up a preliminary final blockbuster against a Pride side which thrashed the Norths Devils 44-16 at Barlow Park.
The Pride's stunning victory earned Dunemann's in-form team another home final, but with next Saturday's match to be televised live by the ABC, it has now been switched to Brisbane.
"It's happened to us twice in a row now, we just have to deal with it and get on with it," Dunemann said.
"We've just got to make sure we prepare well and play some good football."
Recent form suggests the Pride will be too strong for the Comets, but Dunemann isn't taking anything for granted.
"You look at their team on paper and they're a very good team," he said.
"They've got PJ Marsh and Tommy Hewitt back now, so they're going to be hard to beat.
"They have had a great season as well. It's going to be a big challenge for us."
Dunemann was thrilled with his team's clinical performance against the Devils, who went into the match without star five-eighth Matt Geyer.
Geyer had a long-standing commitment to attend the Challenge Cup final at Wembley in the UK, a situation Dunemann only found out about on the morning of the game.
The Pride scored first through Rod Jensen and then produced a mistake from the ensuing set to give the Devils good field position which they capitalised on scoring next to the posts.
The Pride were next to score with Jensen completing an early double before a mistake from the kick-off granted the Devils good field position which they again used to post points.
The Pride led 12-10 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half before tries to Chris Riesen and Germaine Paulson got the margin to 24-10 at the break.
The Pride started where they left off in the second half with tries to Nick Slyney and Rod Griffin.
Jensen then completed his hat-trick to blow the score out to 40-10 with 10 minutes remaining.
The Devils scored a late consolation try, but the Pride had the last laugh when Luke Millwood scooped up a loose ball and sprinted 50 metres to leave the locals in raptures.

Source: www.giantsrl.comHuddersfield Giants have strengthened their squad with the addition, on a two and a half year deal of Queensland Cowboys utility star "Rocket" Rod Jensen. The 28-year-old has been released by the Cowboys to fulfill a lifetime desire to play in the UK and is keen to get his Giants career up and running.
Jenson, who has over 100 NRL games under his belt and 36 tries played his farewell game for the Cowboys at the weekend and will be arriving in the UK this week. The Giants were able to make the move to strengthen with the arrival of John Skandalis' Greek passport which takes him off the clubs overseas quota leaving Jenson to occupy the permitted third slot alongside Brad Drew and Jamahl Lolesi.
Rod Jensen said:
"I have always followed the Super League and the Giants in particular as I know that they have kept in close contact with my career over a number of years. I am looking forward to the challenge and again playing alongside my former teammates Brad Drew & Jamahl Lolesi. I hope I can add something to the already impressive line-up."Head Coach Jon Sharp said:
"Rod is a highly experienced utility player who can cover a number of positions. He began his career on the wing where he first came to our attention and since then he has enjoyed spells in the centre and back row. He will be a great addition to our squad with his versatility giving us plenty of options."Managing Director Richard Thewlis commented:
"The rocket will be a real fans favourite at the Galpharm with his all action style of play. We have been monitoring him for a considerable period of time and we're delighted when we got the nod that he felt now was about the right time to fulfill his UK ambitions. To be able to attract a current NRL star who played in the 2005 Grand Final and still has his best years ahead of him says much for the standing and perception of our club down under."News sent by:
