Source: www.crusadersrfl.comCrusaders duo Gil Dudson and Paul Johnson have signed new deals at Super League's only Welsh club.
Dudson, 20, will remain at the Racecourse Ground until the end of the 2014 Super League season.
Utility-man Johnson, 32, has signed a one-year extension meaning he will remain with the Crusaders until the end of the 2012 season.
Dudson made his Crusaders first team debut against Leeds Rhinos at Rodney Parade in August 2009 following two successful years at reserve grade level. He excelled whilst being dual-registered with the South Wales Scorpions last year and he has been given more first team opportunities this season under head coach Iestyn Harris.
Gil has made 8 appearances for the Crusaders this season and is set to be a key member of Harris' Wales squad in this Autumn's Four Nations.
Paul Johnson has made 7 appearances for the Crusaders this season following his move from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. He has brought a wealth of experience to the Crusaders squad.
He won the first of his 12 Great Britain caps in 2001 and went on to play in both the 2004 and 2005 Tri Nations. He has won Super League Grand Finals with both Wigan Warriors and Bradford Bulls and was part of the Warrington Wolves side that lifted the 2009 Carnegie Challenge Cup.
"I am thrilled that both Gil and Paul have committed themselves to the Crusaders," Harris said.
"Gil has performed well for us this season and has shown a lot of maturity.
"Gil is a young man, he is a 20-year-old front rower who has made tremendous progress this season. Props don't usually mature until their mid 20's, usually 24 or 25, and Gil has all the tools to be a success.
"Gil is showing a lot of promise. He's a big young man and he still has aspects of his game that he needs to improve on, mentally about the game and it is important that we introduce Gil gradually into the first team to ensure he doesn't fatigue. He didn't look out of place when he was in the team earlier this year and I think he has the potential to be one of the best props in Super League.
"He is an important part of out squad and I think he has got a very bright future at the club. We've got him for another four years and I am expecting really big things from him in the future."
"Paul is a model professional who has added a lot to our squad this season," Harris added.
"His versatility has proved a real asset to us and he brings a lot of energy to the side. I have been impressed with his work-rate and Paul is a real leader on and off the field.
"Paul is the kind of player that always gives 100% and I'm hoping that his enthusiasm and work ethic will continue to rub off on his team mates. He's a very experienced player and I hope some of the young players in the squad will learn off him."
After putting pen-to-paper on a new deal, Paul Johnson said it did not take long for him to make his mind up about extending his stay with the Crusaders.
"I'm very pleased to sign up with the Crusaders for another season," he said.
"Even though results haven't gone our way on the field, I am enjoying my time here in Wrexham and I have really settled in to my new surroundings.
"Iestyn Harris is a great coach who is going to do great things with this side. The club is pushing in the right direction and I am playing alongside a great bunch of lads. There is still a lot to play for this season and I am fully focused on helping the Crusaders finishing as high up in the table as possible."
