L'Estrange takes pride from Bulls revival
Fri May 25, 2012
Source: www.bradfordbulls.co.uk

Bradford and Leeds will renew West Yorkshire rivalries in Manchester this weekend, with the atmosphere expected to be far less emotional than it was when they last met.

The April 6 meeting at Odsal was by some expected to be Bradford's last given an unpaid tax bill threatened their existence.

A passion-fuelled crowd of over 20,000 inspired the Bulls to a memorable win that night, though, and the whole occasion seemed to signal a change of fortunes for the club.

They have since established themselves as genuine Stobart Super League play-off contenders and appear to have got on top of their money worries, with former chairman Chris Caisley returning to the helm to spearhead a revival.

And, for captain Heath L'Estrange, a feeling of pride consumes him when he thinks of how his club have pulled together.

"There was a lot of hype leading up to that game. It was pretty emotional, we had about 20,000 there at Odsal under some bad circumstances. It's all different now," he said.

"It's brought us all together, all the boys. We've been grinding out our wins. We have a lot of faith in each other and we have got to keep it going to try and get one of those finals spots.

"I'm really proud of the boys, stepping up when we've been so low. A lot of people at the club have been looking after us with all the fundraisers and made sure we're still on the front foot."

A title winner with Manly during his time in Australia's NRL, worrying about whether or not wages would be paid was new for hooker L'Estrange.

That did not stop the younger players in the Bradford squad turning to him for guidance, though.

"It was a new experience," he said.

"Some of the boys looked at me to lead them through these dark periods and that was hard when you've not been through it before, but you've just got to do your best and have faith in the club, the people above you, that everything is going to go all right."

L'Estrange confident Bulls can tame Wolves
Thu April 26, 2012
by rleague
Bradford co-captain Heath L'Estrange believes the Bulls have what it takes to end Warrington's Wembley dream when the two Super League rivals go head to head live on BBC 1 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Saturday April 28 (2.40pm).

Despite their well-documented off-field troubles, the Bulls have been in good form in recent weeks and L'Estrange is relishing the chance to return to action on Saturday, having been suspended for the last two weeks.

"I'm really excited about the game, especially after missing our last Cup victory over Doncaster two weeks ago," said L'Estrange. "We had a hiccup last weekend but all in all we have been playing well and have had some good form recently.

"It has been tough with everything that's been going on with the club but we have all pulled together, the players, the club and the fans and the mood in camp is positive.

"We know it will be tough against Warrington, they're a quality team but playing in the Challenge Cup is a really motivating experience and we know anything can happen on the day. Hopefully we'll get the win and take good form into the next few weeks of the Super League as well."

L'Estrange is confident that the Bradford fans will turn out in force at Warrington to cheer the Bulls on as they aim to reach the quarter- finals and he says there would be no better way to repay their faith than by delivering on the pitch.

"We always take a good travelling crowd with us and I have no doubt that they will be there on Saturday which always helps.

"I would love to get to Wembley on a personal level because as a little boy back in Australia I used to get up and watch the Challenge Cup final, but it would also be great for the fans because following your team to the final is a dream and it would be a great way to repay the fans.

"As co-captain I will do my part on the pitch to help ensure we progress because it would be massive for the club and the fans if we got to the quarter finals, it would be a real boost."
