Source: www.rabbitohs.com.auThe South Sydney Rabbitohs are delighted to announce the extension of Ben Lowe's playing contract until the end of the 2014 season.
Lowe, 26, has become a key figure in the Rabbitohs' forward pack over the past four seasons, progressing to become a member of the Queensland State of Origin squad during last year's series.
Lowe made his debut for the Rabbitohs in the early stages of the 2008 season and has gone on to play 44 first grade games in the cardinal and myrtle of South Sydney.
Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson says he is pleased that Lowe has committed long term to the Club.
"Ben joined us at the Rabbitohs when his brother Jaiman was playing for us in 2008 and he has developed into a quality NRL footballer who is on the verge of Origin selection," Mr Richardson said.
"He is a hard worker, he doesn't take any shortcuts, and is the prototype for the modern day professional footballer.
"We're very happy to have him on board until at least the end of season 2014, but more immediately, we're looking forward to having him back on the field this weekend against Manly."
Lowe is ecstatic to have signed his extension today.
"South Sydney is the Club that gave me a chance to play in the NRL and I can't thank them enough for the opportunities they've given me," Lowe said.
"I feel privileged to be here with all of the exciting stuff that's going on around the Club.
"There are bigger and better things to come for South Sydney and I'm keen to be part of it all."
