Source: www.juniorbulldogs.com.auSt Johns Eagles JRLC will be hosting their Sportsman's Dinner on Saturday night 7th August at the Mt Lewis Bowling Club.
Guest speakers one the night will be Rugby League legend Terry Lamb and the Mannah brothers - Tim and John.
Lamb played a joint record 349 first grade games for Western Suburbs and Canterbury-Bankstown from 1980 to 1996 with his last season at the Bulldogs coinciding with the debut season of the great Hazem El Masri. Lamb was captain when Canterbury won the 1995 premiership and also tasted premiership success in 1984 and 1988. Lamb also appeared in 8 Tests including the 1988 World Cup Final and 8 State of Origin matches. Lamb is the only player to appear in every match on a Kangaroo Tour, which he achieved in 1986 and was the first player to achieve the 100 tries and 1000 points double in first grade.
Lamb played all 12 seasons of his Junior League in the Canterbury-Bankstown District playing against St Johns on several occasions and during his glittering career at the top played alongside or under many interesting characters in the game including John 'Dallas' Donnelly, Roy Masters, the Mortimer brothers, Peter Kelly, Geoff Robinson, Wally Lewis, John Peard, Ewan McGrady, Warren Ryan, Phil Gould, Peter Moore and much more.
The Mannah brothers have proved themselves to be tough and competitive people in their own special right. Tim has emerged this season to play State of Origin for NSW and has been one of the stars of Parramatta over the last 18 months. John was emerging out of Tim's shadows last year at Cronulla and was stamping himself as a good first grade player before he was diagnosed with cancer. John beat the dreaded disease and has made a remarkable comeback this season playing NSW Cup for the Sharks.
St Johns Eagles JRLC is one of the proudest and most successful clubs in the Canterbury-Bankstown District Junior Rugby League winning exactly 100 premierships in its history stemming back to 1954.
Players to come from the St Johns Eagles includes Garry, Mark & Graeme Hughes, John Peek, current Bulldogs Coach Kevin Moore, current Bulldogs Chairman Ray Dib and current Melbourne NRL player John Kite.
There will be plenty of entertainment on the night and prizes to be won.
The St Johns Eagles Executive would like to say a special thanks to Anthony Abouharb from Harvey Norman Wiley Park for donating prizes worth $7300.

Source: www.sharks.com.auAfter scans conducted for a back complaint on young Sharks forward Johnny Mannah revealed 'hot spots', subsequent tests have returned positive biopsy results for lymphoma.
Mannah will begin treatment next week, with the Sharks to give him and his family every possible support during his recovery process.
The Sharks have asked media representatives to respect the privacy of Mannah and his family while he is undergoing his treatment and recovery and while the club appreciates the well wishes of the fans would request any messages of support be directed to the Sharks football office and not directly to Mannah himself.
