Souths re-sign Manuokafoa and Paulson
Tue July 25, 2006
Source: www.souths.com.au

The Real Insurance Rabbitohs have re-signed South Sydney junior Manase Manuokafoa for the next three seasons today, with Germaine Paulson also agreeing to a further season with the Rabbitohs in 2007.

Manuokafoa, 21, played with the Mascot Jets in the South Sydney Juniors competition and has graduated to the senior ranks to play 28 NRL games since making his debut against the Newcastle Knights in round five of the 2005 season. Paulson, 21, made his NRL debut against the New Zealand Warriors in round seven this year, playing his fourth first grade game last weekend against the Knights.

Rabbitohs CEO Shane Richardson says these players have earned their positions in the top grade this year: "Manase is a big man that has the size and ability to intimidate the opposition. We haven't seen the best of this man yet and having him play with the likes of Roy Asotasi, David Kidwell and Dean Widders next season will take his game to the next level.

"Germaine has the makings of a top class centre in our game and he has also earned his contract extension. We see these two young men as playing an integral part in the future growth of our playing talent and we are delighted they will be in the red and green next season."

Rabbitohs Executive Chairman Peter Holmes à Court says: "These re-signings show that we've been able to recruit some of the best players in the game and next season we will couple them with the best players currently at our Club. It was very important that we were able to connect our young up-and-coming stars like Manuokafoa and Paulson with some experienced, top-class players such as Asotasi, Kidwell, Widders and Vagana."
