Source: www.crusadersrfl.comCeltic Crusaders' players and staff made a special Easter hospital visit to children in the Princess of Wales hospital on Tuesday, to hand out Easter Eggs and sign some autographs.
Darren Mapp, David Tangata-Toa, Lincoln Withers and Anthony Seibold were all on hand to sign autographs and hand out Easter Eggs while the nurses were given bunches of daffodils by the players.
Lincoln Withers said: "I've got a few kids myself so it was a pleasure to go and visit them.
"No children like to be in hospital at the best of times so it was good to sit there and put a smile on their faces.
"It was good to see that most of the kids knew who we were while a couple of them were regular fans at the Brewery Field. When I gave them autographs they were stoked and it made their day.
"The kids loved the mascot, they were trying to guess a name for him and I'm sure they'll all enjoy the Easter Eggs we gave them. This is something I'd definitely do again."
The Crusaders would like to thank Whittard of Chelsea, Booker Cash & Carry and Cadbury for supplying the Easter Eggs.
The mascot's name was announced as "Colyn the Crusader" in a magnificent centre spread in local paper, the Glamorgan Gazette on Thursday.
Pronounced Colin, the name was one of the suggestions received only this week. He is also the name of a staff nurse at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend on the Children's Ward where Celtic Crusaders' players and staff visited the children this week to sign autographs and hand out Easter Eggs.
Chants of "Colin, Colin" piped up from the children and it seemed that this was an easy name.
Other names were considered before choosing. In fact, the club had over 100 names suggested by fans.
The main categories were that the name should hopefully begin with C and that the name should hopefully be Welsh or Celtic in origin.
Out of the initial suggestions, Caradog seemed a likely name. However after considerable thought, this was ruled out simply for national pronunciation. Sometimes opposing clubs and television pundits have struggled pronouncing Celtic properly (for the record, it's a hard C like Colyn and Crusaders)!
The other popular suggestions were also thought about and ruled out. Roy was just a little dull and had no meaning while Taffy was just a little too cliche.
So Colyn it is. The y in the name is an old fashioned Celtic spelling of the name in the Breton language. It is also one of the Welsh words for "sting" when spelt in this way and we want to leave a sting in our opponents as we march to victories in Super League.
Plus of course, it's easy to say and chant so make sure you chant "Colyn, Colyn" when you see him at the Crusaders matches starting with the home game against Castleford Tigers on Sunday 26th April, kick-off 3pm.

Source: www.sharks.com.auFollowing an incident in a Sydney hotel last Saturday evening two Sharks contracted players have been severely reprimanded and fined.
After extensive investigations by the Sharks club, which included the viewing of security video and the interviewing of hotel management and staff, Darren Mapp has been fined a substantial amount for behaviour seen by the Sharks club as being totally unacceptable.
A second player, Luke Harlen, has been fined a lesser amount for minor indiscretions at the same hotel.
These were the only two incidents reported by management which involved Sharks players with several senior players in fact complimented by management and staff of the hotel in question for their cooperation. No official complaint was lodged by the hotel in relation to the reported incidents.
