Huddersfield keep Mason for another four years

Huddersfield Giants prop forward Keith Mason is the latest Galpharm star to tie his foreseeable future to the Club by penning a contract to take him to the end of the 2015 season.

The Club's Managing Director Richard Thewlis believes Mason's commitment is further evidence of the long term planning that is currently being shown:

"Everyone knows Keith's attributes and for all the players here his presence brings great confidence and there is no doubt that when he is on the field the opposition are very aware of him. The retention of an English player for what's likely to be the best years as a prop should be viewed in a great light by our supporters. We do have long term recruitment and retention strategies here at the club and Keith you could say is another part of the jigsaw to fall into place."

The 28 year old is expected back in first team contention after a knee problem shortly and is delighted that his long term future is secured:

"I'm delighted to have signed a long term deal with the Giants. I am very thankful for the club's faith in me and I'm planning to reward them with some good years ahead. There is a good nucleus of us on long term deals and it is exciting to be around quality players going forward as we strive to be successful. We have an awesome base here now along with a great set up and I'm just glad to be a part of the club for the next four and a half years. In my time at the club we have improved year on year. I've looked after myself for the last six weeks through this injury and I can't wait to get back to playing as soon as possible as we come up to the important part of the season."

Head Coach Nathan Brown commented:

"It is good news for the Giants. Keith is a good hard working player and that is something we have based ourselves on here over the last few years. Keith works as hard as anyone in the squad; he is a great trainer, has a great attitude and is always prepared to put the team first. There is a good nucleus of players who have signed deals long term and this can only be a good thing. In my time at the club Keith has always played an important role in the team and with the little additions he has brought to his game, he is definitely playing his best footy."

The Giants are back at the Galpharm this Sunday when they take on Catalan Dragons in the Carnegie Challenge Cup 5th Round. Adults are priced at £15, concessions are £10 and children are £5. Supporters can pay on the turnstiles and junior season ticket holders are free of charge using the voucher located in their season ticket booklets.
