Source: www.quins.co.ukHarlequins Rugby League is pleased to announce that Luke May has signed a contract extension that will see him at the Stoop until the end of 2010.
The 20-year-old from Ashford, Middlesex only began playing rugby league four years ago and has since made a rapid progression through the Harlequins ranks.
Having impressed at academy and reserve grade, May was offered a first team contract for the 2009 season and made his Super League debut against Catalans Dragons in July.
Harlequins Rugby League head coach, Brian McDermott, said he is delighted that another young Londoner has risen through the ranks to reach Super League level:
"Luke has had a squad number for a year now and we're really pleased with his work ethic and desire to achieve. He played one game away at Catalans this year and didn't look out of place at all.
"After another pre-season with us, I hope we'll see him get some more first team appearances in 2010. Luke is another bloke with a southern accent that gets a squad number, so it's great news."
May said today: "It was fantastic making my Super League debut earlier this season and, having signed to the club for another year, I hope to make more appearances next year.
"They're a great group of coaches and I couldn't imagine playing my rugby anywhere else."
May joins the likes of England internationals Tony Clubb and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook who are also products of the Harlequins Rugby League youth development system.
