South Wales Scorpions have signed Welsh international prop Lewis Mills from the Crusaders.
But he is far from being a new face to The Gnoll having spent the whole of last year playing for the Scorpions as part of the dual-registration rule.
He was one of just three ever-presents in the Scorpions side last season, scoring six tries in his 21 appearances, and was an inspiration in the forwards.
However he was unable to break into the Crusaders' Super League team and was released at the end of last season.
"Lewis is a key positional signing for us," said Scorpions coach Aled James. "We will look to utilise him in the back row. It's a position that he finished the season with us last year and it's a position that he feels comfortable in. He played his best games for us there. He will also provides us with cover options in the ruck.
"He is a tremendous acquisition to the squad. He was a full-time player last year with the Crusaders and has gained valuable experience working under Brian Noble and Iestyn Harris. We hope this experience rubs off on some of the other players."
The Scorpions will first take to the field in 2010 when they host Warrington Wolves' under 20 side at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday 11 February (kick-off 7.30pm). Tickets can be bought by going to www.scorpionsrl.com.

Source: www.crusadersrfl.comPromising Welsh star Lewis Mills star has targeted wining a place in the Crusaders side as his goal for this season.
Cardiff born prop Mills, 20, is one of a promising breed of young Welsh players that have made the Crusaders squad this year. Along with the likes of Elliot Kear, Gil Dudson, Ben Flower and Lloyd White, Lewis is a fully-fledged Welsh international and was part of Iestyn Harris' Four Nation winning squad last year.
He signed for Crusaders after after coming through the youth ranks at Newport Titans before making an impression in the academy sides. Mills made his Super League debut in Super League XIV, coming off the bench in a round 24 loss away to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
And the prop insits he is keen to make an impression and break into the Crusaders side this season.
"My aims for the season is to continue to work hard, play my way into the team and hopefully get a few games for the Crusaders," said Mills.
"It is my first year full time and I am really enjoying training. It is going really well and I am very settled here in Wrexham. The facilities are really good and I am working with an excellent coaching staff and I am really enjoying the experience. I've worked with Iestyn Harris before with Wales and he is a brilliant coach. It has also been great working with Brian and Jon, they are two really experienced coaches that I learn a lot from. I want out learn as much as I can and to do my best for the team."
Crusaders chaotic pre-season has been well documented, with club having to up sticks and move to Wrexham.
But Mills said the move has been relatively easy for him.
He added: "I have coped with the move quite well. I've had the experience of moving out before with my first year at university. I'm up here with a few other lads that I have played with over the years so that makes the move a lot easier. We're all in the same boat at the end of the day but as I said before I am really enjoying the whole experience.
"The biggest difference this year is that I am full time. I was in the academy last year and I got called up to play for the first team towards the end of last year. I'm now training full time and the intensity has picked up quite a bit this year. In the academy you train a couple of times a week but we're in nearly every day now and it has taken a couple of months for my body to adapt. I am enjoying pushing myself and testing myself this year."
"I'm learning so much from the coaching staff and by working with some top players. Guys like Ryan O'Hara and Mark Bryant are brilliant, they've played at the highest level for a while and you just learn so much from them.
Lewis has also played for Co-operative Championship One side this season thanks to the dual registration system, which allows Engage Super League players to also play for Championship sides, enabling them to gain valuable experience and game time.
He added: "It has been good playing for the Scorpions this year. It has allowed me to put into practice what I have been learning here with the Crusaders. Working with Brian Noble, Iestyn Harris and Jon Sharp is really helping me improve as a player and I have also enjoyed getting some game time and putting into practice some of these new skills I've been learning form the new coaching staff at the Crusaders."
Crusaders next take on Huddersfield Giants at the Racecourse Ground this Sunday (kick-off 3pm). Tickets can be purchased by calling 01978 262129, by calling into the club shop or online at www.crusadersrfl.co.uk
