Hull KR back-rowers Ben Galea and Scott Murrell are both expected to be fit for the Robins opening engage Super League clash against Bradford at Odsal Stadium on Sunday February 15.
Galea returned to training earlier in the week after having off-season surgery and is expected to be given the green light after he sees the specialist later this week.
The 30-year-old was signed after the 2007 season from NRL side Wests Tigers and took out the Hull KR Player of the Year award where he covered the second-row, lock and five-eighth positions in the 21 matches he played, in which he scored two tries.
Hull KR Coach Justin Morgan said to BBC Radio Humberside, "He's been doing most of the training and seems fine.
"He should be available for one if not both of the pre-season friendlies and fit and get the all-clear to play.
"Bennie was outstanding last season and he's done all the training but we've kept him away from the full contact work until the specialist gives him the nod.
Meanwhile, Hull KR received a further boost with Murrell set for a return after recovering from a dislocated shoulder injury, which restricted his season to just 13 matches.
Murrell was injured in Hull KR's round 15 win over Harlequins in late May and was ruled out for the season.
The 23-year-old signed a three-year extension signed a three-year extension on his contract at Hull KR keeping him at Craven Park until the end of 2012.
Morgan said, "Scott's back in full training having been given the all-clear by the surgeon.
"He's been fine with no problems and is coming along nicely.
"He's been working really hard with [fitness conditioner] Billy Mallinson on his physique and looking to get a little bit more strength and size.
"I think everyone will agree he plays well above his weight so we're trying to give him some extra weight to support that."
Hull KR finished their second season in Super League after a decade in the second tier competition in 7th position, five points below Bradford and Warrington. Morgan will be relying on the form and fitness of Galea and Murrell as the Robins prepare to make the next step forward and push for serious finals contention.

Source: http://www.hullkr.co.ukHull Kingston Rovers' utility player, Scott Murrell has put pen to paper signing a three-year contract extension this week, committing to the club until the end of the 2012 season.
Having signed from Leeds Rhinos at the end of 2005, Murrell was part of the team that helped Morgan's National League 1 side to Super League promotion, playing a key role in the club's Super League survival campaign last season also.
The 22-year-old who was originally contracted to the club until the end of 2009 has been side-lined for the majority of the season due to a shoulder injury, which occurred against the Quins at home on May 25th, and is desperate for his team mates to secure a play-off spot this year.
Scott remarked: "It's been frustrating having to watch week after week from the side lines, I cant wait to get back to playing. It's great to know that I will be part of a club that has secured a three year Super League licence."
He went on to say: "I really hope the boys get there this season, they have done so well considering all our injuries, and to be challenging for a top 6 spot after only two years in the top flight, is testament to the hard work that has been put in by players and coaching staff.
"This club has great character and the fans are a massive part of that, they really do support the players through thick and thin, I can't wait to get back to playing and run out at Craven Park to the roar of the East Stand."
Rovers Head Coach Justin Morgan said: "Scott is a very determined individual who has worked hard on his game during his time at the club. He is a good player to build a team around, its excellent news that he has agreed to stay with us for a further three years, and shows that he is a player that is settled and is ready to commit to the club."
Fans are reminded that tickets for the next *two fixtures are available from the official club store 269 Holderness Road and Craven Park Stadium:
