Source: www.bulldogs.com.auLivewire halfback Ben Barba is one of several youngsters being given an opportunity to shine in the absence of State of Origin stars for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs clash with the Penrith Panthers at CUA Stadium on Monday night.
Barba will be able to prove his worth for the full 80 minutes in place of Brett Kimmorley, Shane Neumann will make his debut for the Bulldogs replacing Jamal Idris in the centres and Dene Halatau covers Michael Ennis at hooker.
Former Penrith utility Joel Romelo will also make his debut for the Bulldogs, coming off the bench where he'll be alongside wide running back-rower Jake Foster who gets his first opportunity in the top grade. Foster came through the Bulldogs NYC programme and has been a standout in premier league this year.
"We're in a great position to cover the gaps left by our Origin players," said coach Kevin Moore.
"All of the players coming into the team are in top form and are slotting in well amongst our regular first graders.
"Penrith are never an easy team and we'll certainly have our work cut out for us on Monday but I'm confident that with the progress we've made in recent weeks we'll be providing them with a solid challenge."
Team is as follows:
1. Luke Patten
2. Steve Turner

4. Shane Neumann
5. Bryson Goodwin
