Source: www.hullfc.comHull FC bring back the big hitters for their return to Super League action as they face one of their bogey sides at the weekend in Salford.
The Black and Whites have a patchy history in recent season's against the Reds, including a 4th Round cup defeat in 2009 and a shock defeat at the Willows last season, so there is no surprise that head coach Richard Agar is set to bring back his main men.
Skipper Craig Fitzgibbon and Australian team mate Mark O'Meley are both recalled after well earned rests, whilst Danny Tickle, Cameron Phelps and Super League's leading try scorer Kirk Yeaman also return.
Young forward Joe Westerman was named in Hull's 19-man squad for last Saturday's crushing 82-0 victory over Oldham in the cup but wasn't risked after rolling his ankle, but he too should be back in the fold for the trip to Greater Manchester.
That means youngsters Jack Aldous, Liam Kent, Reece Lyne and Ben Crooks all miss out, whilst Agar faces some tough selection decisions with the likes of Will Sharp and Jordan Turner impressing against the Roughyeds.
The latter will be particularly keen to play this weekend following a hat-trick last time out as he prepares to come up against the club where he began his career, having been voted Salford's Young Player of the Year in 2007.
As for the Reds, an eventful few weeks off the field hasn't hampered their performances too badly, as they come into the match after two wins against Harlequins and Hunslet respectively.
Caretaker coach Phil Veviers, who has been covering following the long term absence and subsequent departure of Shaun McRae, a man known well to Hull fans having coached the club from 2000 to 2004, has got his side firing on all cylinders and they are without doubt, a strong attacking unit.
The likes of full back Luke Patten and half back Daniel Holdsworth bring quality to the side with plenty of experience behind them, as well as former Hull players Wayne Godwin and Jodie Broughton, the latter who has scored 9 tries this season and is drawing the eye of England coach Steve McNamara.
However, despite often proving to be a test for most opposition defences this season, it's their own defensive form that has been costly this season, holding the second worse conceding record this year, with only basement club Crusaders worse off than them.
The game itself though has plenty riding on it with 8th (Hull) facing 9th (Salford), split by just one point and two tries, the Black and Whites scoring 54 tries this season to the Reds 52.
A win for the home side would push Hull out of the top eight, whilst victory for Agar's men would see them continue their resurgent up turn in form and make it five games undefeated.
Hull FC: T. Briscoe, Dowes, Fitzgibbon, Gleeson, Horne, Houghton, Lauaki, Manu, Moa, Obst, O'Meley, Phelps, Radford, Sharp, Tickle, Turner, Westerman, Whiting, Yeaman.

Source: www.hullfc.comHull FC head coach Richard Agar has confirmed that Sean Long will return to the starting line-up for Friday night's clash against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The Black and Whites star scrum half has missed the last three games with an ankle injury but returns to the side to face the Wildcats at the KC Stadium.
However, with one star back, Hull will have to do without two of their other big hitters with both Mark O'Meley and Kirk Yeaman missing for the clash.
O'Meley is set for at least a month on the sidelines with a foot injury, whilst Yeaman is suspended following his involvement in a brawl at their last game against Wigan.
That means Ewan Dowes, Reece Lyne and Jordan Turner are all vying for a place in the team, whilst Sam Obst is expected to revert for his more comfortable role at hooker with Long now back in the 17.
Agar commented, "Sean will be in the starting line-up for us this weekend and it's a great boost to have a player of his quality back in the side, he's a smart player and his kicking game just offers us a few more options.
"It's good that we have the spine of our team together and our two half backs playing alongside each other will certainly help us create some opportunities."
He continued, "It will also take a bit of weight of Danny's [Houghton] shoulders now with having Sam [Obst] in there to offer us some cover and to have a player of Sam's ability in the squad is invaluable.
"I think he's already shown what a great signing he can be for us, he's started very brightly and working extremely hard in training so we are pleased with the start he has made.
"There's also the opportunity for one or two of the other guys to stake a claim for a place with Mark [O'Meley] and Kirk [Yeaman] missing, so they'll get a chance and it's up to them to take it."
On the visit of Wakefield, he also said, "They are a little unpredictable and that can work for you or against you, so we need to be on our metal this weekend and find the same intensity levels we had at Wigan.
"We know they'll be very determined and dogged and John Kear will certainly have them fired up for it, with a couple of other former Hull boys in there too."
One of those players in prop forward Paul King, who has given the Wildcats a timely boost having passed a fitness test to enable him to head to his old stomping ground.
King, who made over 250 appearance for the Black and Whites, isn't the only Hull connection either, with Tommy Lee set to face his former club, plus head coach John Kear, who led FC to Challenge Cup glory in 2005.
Speaking to The 18th Man official match day programme ahead of the game, Lee said, "I enjoyed my time at Hull and playing at the KC Stadium in front of a great crowd.
"It's great stadium and we'll all be up for it when we come over for Friday's game."
On his former team, he added, "They are a brilliant team on paper and they'll definitely make the top 8 this season.
"They haven't started too well, but the performance against Wigan shows what they can do and they were maybe a bit unlucky to not come away from that match with something to show for their performance."
The Wildcats have also included Kyle Amor and Frankie Mariano, despite doubts over their fitness earlier this week.
The game itself will be quite an historic one. Not only will it be a memorable evening for Richard Horne, who will play his 300th game for Hull FC, it will also be the 250th competitive meeting between the clubs.
Since the first game at the start of the last century, the Black and Whites have claimed 138 victories to Wakefield's 100.
