Source: www.quins.co.ukThis Saturday at 3:00pm will see Robbie and Henry Paul play against each other at the Twickenham Stoop Stadium.
When people look at brothers of a similar age, growing up with the same goals and ambitions, they would be thinking that there would be a large degree of rivalry, envy, or even a spot of defiance, but with the Paul brothers this is just not the case.
Robbie Paul saw his brother as his role model and mentor.
"Henry always set the bench mark for me, and for me to achieve any of my goals I always had to work that little bit harder."Both boys put their success down to hard work, and a little bit of luck, and the support of wonderful parents,
"they have always been there for us, made us believe in ourselves, and also kept our feet on the ground."Their mum is a teacher, and still believes in education always coming first, and as Robbie jokes,
"Henry was always a bit of a nerd at school, he studied hard and got good grades, but he was also a good athlete." Robbie describes his dad as the disciplinarian in the house and he coached him in his early years. Both of the boys describe their parents as great role models and heroes.
Having been introduced to Rugby League at an early age by their parents, both Henry's and Robbie's kids love the sport but, in different ways.
"I have two teenage daughters and the oldest one is a dead set fan. After every match I get a full lecture on what I and the referee did wrong. One match, when I was injured, I sat with her and was shocked by how loud she is, she really is very passionate. She is my biggest fan, but also my biggest critic.
"Henry's two are a little smaller. Theo has just started being introduced to touch and is learning the basic skills and acquiring an enjoyment for the game. Milan, the youngest, loves the post match atmosphere at The Stoop, and loves playing on the pitch with the other kids after the match. "Ask the two of them what their best memories are and both give very impressive responses. Robbie's is the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley in 1996, where he was the youngest ever captain in a cup final and scored three tries, gaining the Lance Todd Man of the Match Trophy.
Henry's is the 2001 Grand Final with Bradford when Robbie was the captain.
This Saturday the brothers will come face to face on different teams. It is clear they both have the up most respect for each other, but also a fierce determination to win. It promises to be an intriguing contest between the two.
Next home match, Harlequins RL v Huddersfield Giants, kicks off at 15.00pm on Saturday 21st July. For tickets call 020 8410 6000 or visit
