Source: www.sharks.com.auKiwi Henry Perenara, who's former clubs have included the Warriors, Storm, Dragons and Eels, has joined the Sharks for the 2007 season on an incentive-type deal.
A lock-second rower with more than 60 games experience in the NRL, Perenara will be a boost to the club's depth in the back row. He is currently training with the Sharks Premier League squad and has been included in a 23-man traveling party for the Sharks first trial match against the Eels.
Perenara last year captained the Parramatta Premier League team to the 2006 competition title.
Meanwhile, Sharks coach Ricky Stuart has announced a 23-man squad for his team's first trial match in Parkes, with a strong team ready to tackle the Eels.
Newcomers Dustin Cooper, Fraser Anderson, Brett Seymour and Henry Perenara have been named in what at this early stage is shaping as the run-on side, with Paul Stephenson, Josh Hannay, Misi Taulapapa and Michael Greenfield set to play considerable game time when entering the game from the interchange bench.
Star front rower Ben Ross, who missed the majority of 2006 with a knee injury, will also make his return to the field in the match in Parkes.
It is expected that 23 players will travel to the western NSW town, with the match to be played at Pioneer Oval in Parkes on February 17, kicking off at 6.00pm.
The traveling squad to Parkes is as follows (subject to change):
Dustin Cooper, Matt Raftery, Dane Nielsen, Ben Pomeroy, Fraser Anderson, Brett Seymour, Brett Kearney, Ben Ross, Isaac De Gois, Jacob Selmes, Phil Leuluai, Henry Perenara, Cameron Ciraldo, Paul Stephenson, Josh Hannay, Travis Robinson, Misi Taulapapa, Scott Porter, Michael Greenfield, Brett Finn, Sitaleki Timani, Dayne Weston and Leonard Ropeta.
