Widnes Vikings have made former Wigan Warriors and Hull FC full-back Cameron Phelps their 15th signing ahead of their return to Super League.
The 26-year-old Australian, who made 19 appearances for Hull last season, has signed a two-year contract with the Vikings subject to him receiving the necessary visa.
"I have been keeping myself in good shape by training with Canberra Raiders back home and I'm really looking forward to the fresh new challenge in front of me," said the former Canterbury Bulldogs player, who made 44 appearances for Wigan from 2008-10.
"It's an exciting time to be involved at the Vikings and I'm looking forward to helping the team in their push towards the finals.
Widnes coach Denis Betts added: "To unearth a player of Cameron's calibre, literally weeks before the start of a new season is a massive bonus and having him on board adds even more competition for places and greater strength in depth to our squad."

Source: www.hullfc.comHull FC head coach Richard Agar has confirmed that new signing Cameron Phelps will make his debut against Wigan Warriors on Sunday.
The talented Australian full back will ironically make his first appearance for Hull against his former employers, who he left at the end of 2010.
During his time at the DW Stadium, he scored 15 tries in 48 matches and became somewhat of a fan's favourite alongside the likes of England starlet Sam Tomkins.
Now set to wear Black and White for the first time this season, Phelps admits he has a point to prove to his old club.
"I'd like to have a really good game and show Wigan that I am a really good player and that I can perform at the highest level," he said.
"I had a great first two years. Last year was obviously a bit up and down and it was bitter-sweet watching the guys win the Grand Final and not being able to play," said Phelps, who knows he has a good opportunity to earn a longer stint in Hull.
"I enjoy playing over here. I want to perform well in these early rounds and get a new deal straight away. That would be ideal. I'd like to be here long term and hopefully make the full-back position my own."
Centre Jordan Turner is the man to make way for the Australian, meaning its more than likely that stand in full back Richard Whiting will now revert to his more natural role at centre.
Other than that, with Sean Long still a week away from selection following injury, it looks set to remain unchanged as Hull look to turn the form book upside down with a victory against the title favourites, something that coach Agar believes is achievable.
"We know it will be a difficult game as they are a very good Super League team and probably the team to beat at this moment in time, but it doesn't mean it can't be done," he said.
"We know what to expect going there and know we will have to be at our very best to take something from the game, but that is what we are here to do and we'll go there to give it our best shot."
He continued, "Cameron will come in for his debut this week, he looks like he is in good condition considering he's only got off a plane yesterday and he will replace Richard Whiting who'll probably move to centre, a position that comes more naturally to him.
"I think Rich has done a great job in there for us, he knows its not his best position but the great thing about him is he knows exactly what each position requires and he has come up with four or five great defensive plays for us in the first few games which was pleasing to see."
Wigan come into the game on the back of a 32-16 hammering of Salford City Reds having made an unbeaten start to Super League XVI, with the defence of their Grand Final title on the line.
The only real blemishes within the first few rounds have been a disappointing opening day draw against rivals St. Helens, having looked in control at the Millennium Stadium, as well as defeat in the World Club Challenge Final.
This week has also seen them lose the talismanic Stuart Fielden, after it was confirmed he has had knee surgery keeping him sidelined for at least three months.
